At the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Giang warmly welcomed the delegation’s visit to Vietnam at a particularly meaningful time, coinciding with the two countries' 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1995–2025) and the second anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2023–2025).
He affirmed that the Vietnam–United States relationship has continued to develop positively across multiple areas. Both sides have maintained regular contacts and delegation exchanges at various levels, especially at the high level, while actively coordinating to resolve outstanding issues, including concerns related to economics, trade, and investment.
The Deputy Foreign Minister highly appreciated the role of the U.S. Congress and the bipartisan support from both the Democratic and Republican parties for the development of Vietnam - U.S. relations, especially the quiet yet meaningful contributions of Congressional Assistants in promoting bilateral cooperation based on mutual understanding and respect.
Highlighting the strategic importance of cooperation in overcoming the war consequences, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation to the United States for maintaining significant support in this area, which helps build trust and lays a long-term foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
In that spirit, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang called on the U.S. Congressional Assistants to continue paying attention to and supporting the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Vietnam-U.S. relations. This includes practical matters such as moving toward a fair and balanced trade agreement, early recognition of Vietnam's market economy status, and removing Vietnam from the D1-D3 list related to U.S. strategic export controls.
