Da Nang to reconnect with Korean market with a series of new products

Da Nang is looking forward to welcoming back a large number of Koreans, focuses on MICE and Golf tourists with a wide range of special offers.

On 9th August 2022, Da Nang informed us that the city has reconnected with the Korean market post the pandemic, with a series of new tourist product events, which makes the expectation to quickly recover the traditional leading market.

Therefore, on 8th August, in Seoul (Korea), Da Nang City Department of Tourism organized a programme to introduce Da Nang tourism with the aim of promoting Da Nang destination post the Covid-19 pandemic with a series of tourism products and events, especially MICE and golf tourism, and creating opportunities for tourism businesses in Da Nang and the Central Region to grasp information about market trends and connect with Korean partners.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Director of Tourism Promotion Centre of Da Nang, said, since the restoration of international flight routes on March 2022, there are 9 air carriers operating direct flights between Da Nang and major cities in Korea including: Incheon, Busan, Daegu, Muan, with a frequency of 76 flights/week, the total number of Korean visitors to Da Nang is estimated at 53,660 arrivals.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Korea will always support Vietnamese localities, including Da Nang and Korean partners, in promoting the tourism development of the two countries, affirmed Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Nguyen Vu Tung.

With the reopening of tourism from 15th March 2022, it is expected to soon achieve the same 4.3 million korean visitor arrivals to Vietnam as before the pandemic, especially in the context that Da Nang has many preferential programmes for Korean tourists.

Da Nang will uphold golf tourism to attract Korean visitors. First and foremost is to attract Korean visitors to come to the Golf Tourism Festival, which takes place from 28th August to 2nd September, with a highlight of the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2022 and the International Golf Tourism Conference of Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF). Along with jillions of golf events happen in Da Nang from now to year end, forming many professional and attractive playgrounds for Korean tourists, the leading market for golf tourism.

Mr. Huynh Van Nhiem, General Manager of Montgomerie Links Golf Club, representing golf courses in the Central Region indicated that Korea is the leading golf tourism market in the Hue-Da Nang-Quang Nam region. There is a big change during the restoration of tourism with the rocket of golf tourists in June and July, different from the peak season of the years from November to March.

On the programme to introduce Da Nang tourism in Seoul, there was a meeting between 14 leading tourism businesses in Da Nang and the Central and nearly 50 major Korean tour operators to connect partners and gain information about the Korean market.

Mr. Gentzsch Andre Piere, General Manager of Furama-Ariyana Danang Tourism Complex, indicated "Da Nang is a familiar place for Korean visitors, and Korea is a favourite tourism destination of Da Nang people in particular and Vietnamese in general. This exchange of visitors contributes to sustainable tourism development between the two countries".
