On the evening of August 7, at East Sea Park, the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City 2026 officially commenced, reaffirming its role as one of the annual foreign affairs events that contribute to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and promoting cooperation between Da Nang City and Korean localities and partners.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that the festival contributes to honoring the unique cultural values of the two nations, fostering friendship, and promoting increasingly strong cooperation between Da Nang and Korean localities and partners.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, the city will continue to build a favorable investment environment, develop an innovation ecosystem, expand international cooperation, and collaborate with Korean partners to implement cooperation programs in a practical, effective, and sustainable manner.

Republic of Korea Consul General in Da Nang Han Jung-il expressed hope that the music, culinary, and traditional cultural experience activities at the festival will serve as a bridge bringing Vietnamese and Republic of Korea people closer together.

After four editions attracting over 40,000 participants annually, this year's Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City returns with an expanded scale.

The event features participation from various Korean localities such as Daegu, Pyeongtaek, Yongin, Osan, Gwangyang, Yeongam, and Gurye, along with businesses, universities, trade promotion organizations, tourism entities, and art troupes from both countries.

The highlight of the opening night was an artistic program combining traditional values with the modern essence of Vietnam and Korea.

The Da Nang Traditional Art Theater and the Yeongam Art Troupe from the Korea performed together, creating a musical dialogue between the two cultures.

Traditional Vietnamese instruments like the dan bau, dan tranh, and bamboo flute were combined with Korea's Gayageum and Taepyeongso in familiar melodies such as Arirang and "Lý kèo chài".

The program also included 16 performances featuring various art forms such as drum ensembles, flag dances, Apsara dances, the ensemble "Trống cơm" - "Lý ngựa ô", Bai choi folk songs, fan dances, Gayageum performances, and K-pop acts.

The blend of traditional art and contemporary pop culture created an intimate exchange space where the unique aspects of each culture were showcased through music, dance, and community activities.

Taking place from August 6-9, the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City 2026 not only focuses on artistic performances.

At East Sea Park, over 90 booths showcasing cuisine, products, services, and tourist destinations create a cultural experience space, brand promotion, and connection between organizations and businesses from both countries.

Residents and visitors can also explore areas displaying Vietnam-Korea cooperation achievements, traditional art exhibitions, and the Gwangyang Media Art Lab digital art exhibition.

A series of community activities are organized throughout the festival, featuring Samulnori drum performances, Korea's Sogo dance, Vietnam's bamboo dance, Random Dance K-pop, the K-pop Dance Contest finals, Traditional Vietnam-Taekwondo martial arts performances, and a Vietnam-Korea cooking contest.

Before the opening ceremony, on the afternoon of August 6, a welcoming parade took place with the participation of over 100 artists and students, kicking off the cultural exchange activities of the event.

Notably, this year's festival scope continues to expand from cultural exchange to economic, educational, technological, and people-to-people diplomacy connections.

Within the program framework, the "Meet Republic of Korea in Da Nang 2026" Conference with the theme of artificial intelligence was held on the afternoon of August 7, creating a forum for connection between Da Nang and Korea partners in a field the city is focusing on developing.

Additionally, a series of activities such as Korean Film Days, study abroad consultations, the Friendship Diplomacy Golf Tournament, and football exchanges featuring former Republic of Korea national team players are included.

From traditional art performances to business, education, and technology connection programs, the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City 2026 demonstrates that cultural exchange is increasingly linked with specific cooperation content.

As a result, the event helps strengthen the foundation of people-to-people exchanges while opening up more cooperation spaces between Da Nang and Korean localities and partners.
