Opening opportunities for young Vietnamese to study in Korea

On May 9, Havina Global successfully organised the event “Korea Path 2026 - Smart Study Abroad & Global Career” at VNU Book Store, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Amidst the robust development of Vietnam-Korea relations, the event created a direct dialogue space between educational managers, business leaders, and young people about career development paths in the land of kimchi.

The event gathered leading experts in education and business from both countries, such as Mr. Leo Nguyen, CEO of Havina Global; Mr. Kim Dong Young, Chairman of ATI Group; Mr. Lee Seunghwan, CEO of Seed Coop Korea, along with representatives of alumni from Seoul National University and Sejong University.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Leo Nguyen, CEO of Havina Global, shared: This is the kickoff event for a project aimed at helping students find it easier to seek jobs, internships, and study opportunities in the Republic of Korea.

Mr. Leo Nguyen also pointed out that most young Vietnamese are still confused about setting long-term goals. The lack of a clear roadmap from choosing a major to future job strategies not only wastes financial resources and time but also reduces the competitiveness of candidates in the international labour market.

Additionally, language certificate barriers and academic cultural differences between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea are significant challenges that cause many international students to become "disillusioned".

In this context, connecting with study abroad companies like Havina Global is an effective way for students to enhance and optimise their preparation, from improving their application capabilities to quickly adapting to the dynamic living and working environment in the Republic of Korea.

According to many international education statistics, Vietnam is currently among the countries with a large number of students in the Republic of Korea, indicating an increasing trend of high-quality study and labour migration between the two countries. This is also part of the Republic of Korea's internationalisation of education strategy, which it has been vigorously promoting in recent years.

Throughout the event, speakers provided an objective view of career development paths in the land of kimchi. Detailed insights on scholarship strategies, visa selection, and networking skills were shared to help students enhance their competitiveness in the international environment.

Sharing about the recruitment criteria of major corporations, Mr. Lee Seunghwan emphasised: “Besides professional competence, corporations in the Republic of Korea particularly value language skills. Multilingual ability is a core factor that helps candidates excel. Additionally, gaining internship experience at local corporations is the most credible 'proof' of Vietnamese students' capabilities.”

Agreeing to enhance competitive advantage, a representative from Korea University of Technology noted that young people need to proactively embrace cutting-edge technology sectors such as semiconductors and robotics. In the era of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence (AI), transitioning into these fields is an inevitable strategy to keep up with trends and shape the future.

Many students attending expressed concerns not only about study opportunities but also about finding long-term employment, adapting to the culture, and building a sustainable career development path in the Republic of Korea after graduation. This is increasingly evident as studying abroad is no longer just about obtaining a degree but has become an opportunity to gain international experience, participate in the global technology workforce, and expand career opportunities in a multinational environment.

Drawing from real-life experience, Ms. Le Huyen Anh - Master of Business Administration at Sejong University, advised students: “Besides a solid foundation in Korean, young people need to proactively enhance digital skills, viewing technology as an 'extended arm' to optimise efficiency and increase personal value in the face of the current stringent demands of the global labour market.”

Currently, Korea continues to affirm its position as one of the world's leading educational destinations. The Korean government is implementing the "Study Korea 300K" project with the goal of attracting 300,000 international students by 2027, while expanding support policies for study, research, and post-graduation employment to increase its appeal to young global talent.

In the context of expanding Vietnam-Republic of Korea cooperation, especially in high-tech fields such as semiconductors, AI, and smart manufacturing, the demand for bilingual, internationally educated human resources is expected to continue to rise in the near future.

This is seen as a positive signal, opening up tremendous prospects for Vietnamese youth to access education and build careers in the land of kimchi.
