Young Vietnamese pave the way for creativity in Milan's fashion capital
Latest
This marks the first time an international fashion event in Milan has been entirely organized by young Vietnamese residing, studying, and working in Italy and various European countries.
The Community Becomes a Creative Team
To bring a collection to the runway in Milan, young Vietnamese collaborated to handle many behind-the-scenes tasks.
Participants in the program came from France, Belgium, the UK, Spain, Sweden, the Czech Republic, various cities in Italy, and Vietnam, taking charge of production, communication, imagery, logistics, and technical aspects.

For a young team, the challenge was not just organizing a fashion show in one of the world's major fashion hubs. They had to manage language barriers, funding, manpower, legal procedures, negotiate with local partners, and coordinate sound, lighting, makeup, and models.
From the initial idea, Hien Thao, the program's production director, and the team connected the Vietnamese community in over 20 European countries to form a joint project.
For Thai My, a member of the organizing committee, the significance of the program also lies in the opportunity to introduce Vietnamese images, culture, and talent to international friends right before Milan Fashion Week.
The designs showcased in Milan are not just the product of one designer. Behind the scenes is the involvement of a network of young Vietnamese living in various countries, contributing their efforts and expertise to create an event with a Vietnamese imprint.
A Meeting of Vietnamese Generations
A notable aspect of GODS WITHIN HER is the presence of multiple generations of Vietnamese in Europe. From the UK, Vu Thi Thu Huyen attended the event in Milan after a month of participating in cultural activities across Europe. She was impressed by the dynamism, spontaneity, and professionalism of the young team and hopes future collections can be showcased in London.
From Madrid, Vera Hang brought her teenage son and daughter to the program. She expressed pride in witnessing young people in their twenties boldly engaging in creative fields, with the support of experienced experts and advisors.
Also present in the audience was Quoc Chinh, from the first generation of Vietnamese to arrive in Italy, who has been connected to the country for about 50 years with his Italian wife.
For him, the program demonstrates the vitality of the Vietnamese community across generations. Young people are proactively executing their creative projects while still receiving support from the previous generation.
The program's space was also expanded through cuisine. Alongside La Trinh's designs, Vietnamese dishes were introduced alongside Italian wine. Some Italian guests, experiencing Vietnamese fashion and cuisine for the first time at the program, expressed surprise at the creativity of the young designers.
Nguyen Minh Quan, a student of International Management and Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, noted that his Italian friends were particularly intrigued by the uniqueness of the collection and had the opportunity to explore Vietnamese fashion in an international setting for the first time.

For Namie Trinh and La Trinh, GODS WITHIN HER is the beginning of a journey to bring Vietnamese creativity closer to the European public. In early September, La Trinh also collaborated with Cinexia Productions in Prague on a film project, aiming to introduce Vietnamese stories and creativity in Europe.
From a show in Milan, young Vietnamese are creating more spaces for creativity, connecting communities, and introducing Vietnamese cultural products in an international environment.
