World Bank asked to continue providing technical support for Vietnam

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh has suggested that the World Bank (WB) continue providing Vietnam with capital and technical support and have a mechanism for the country’s ‘graduation’ from international development assistance (IDA) sources to maintain its sustainable achievements in socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

The official spoke highly of Diop’s active and important contributions to supporting Vietnam to mobilise investment sources in the fields of energy, transport, digital development, infrastructure, and public-private-partnership (PPP).

He said that the Vietnamese Party and Government have been persistent in pursuing the goal of macroeconomic stability; focusing on growth quality, accelerating economic restructuring; and determining the construction of synchronous infrastructure as one of the breakthrough strategies.

He hoped that the WB would support Vietnam in building a comprehensive legal framework on public-private partnership (PPP) to further encourage the private sector to make effective investments, especially in infrastructure projects in Vietnam.

Diop informed his host about the priorities of programmes that the bank is carrying out in Vietnam in the field of infrastructure.

He asserted that the WB will continue cooperating and supporting Vietnam in the time ahead.
