Warm Homeland Spring of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 in Cambodia

WVR - On the evening of February 8, at the capital Phnom Penh, in the bustling atmosphere of the days leading up to the traditional Tet holiday, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Cambodia organized the Homeland Spring 2026 gathering, a meaningful cultural and diplomatic rendezvous.

The program attracted around 650 delegates in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

On the Vietnamese side, there were numerous expatriates from 25 provinces and cities in Cambodia, business representatives, students, embassy staff, and officials from Vietnamese agencies in Cambodia, as well as leaders from border provinces of the two countries.

Among the international guests were the Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An; Phnom Penh Governor Khuon Sreng, leaders of several local ministries, and officials from the Lao Embassy and the EU Delegation in Cambodia.

In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the New Year, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted Vietnam's outstanding achievements in economic, social, and foreign affairs development in 2025. He emphasized the "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting sustainability" between Vietnam and Cambodia, which has been continuously strengthened and developed in all areas.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen visited Vietnam three times in 2025 and for the first time attended the 80th National Day celebration organized by the Embassy. Notably, on February 6, right after the successful 14th National Party Congress, General Secretary To Lam led a high-level Vietnamese delegation, including the Prime Minister, the National Assembly Chairman, and eight Politburo members, on a state visit to Cambodia and attended the two-party and three-party meetings in Phnom Penh.

This significant and special event, along with the very positive outcomes of the visit, demonstrated the comprehensive, friendly, and united relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that the Vietnamese community and businesses in Cambodia, despite many challenges, have made positive contributions to Cambodia's prosperity. They have organized practical activities to support each other, preserve cultural identity, and always look towards their homeland, contributing to the ever-growing Vietnam-Cambodia friendship in all fields.

Speaking at the ceremony, Samdech Men Sam An congratulated the success of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, expressing confidence in Vietnam's "New Era of Development" and stated: "This success is not only a triumph for the Vietnamese people but also a model for friendly countries, contributing to ensuring stability, peace, and development for the region".

Reflecting on the joyous atmosphere of Vietnam's traditional Tet, Samdech Man Sam An remarked that this is not only a festival for Vietnamese people but also a shared celebration for Cambodian friends and peace lovers.

Samdech wished all Vietnamese and Cambodian friends good health, abundant energy, success in their endeavors, and for the enduring bond between the two nations.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu presented 200 gifts from General Secretary To Lam to disadvantaged Vietnamese families in Cambodia; he also awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals for their contributions to community work in 2025.

The Homeland Spring 2026 program in Cambodia was rich in cultural identity with images of calligraphers giving away characters, a "Success" miniature corner, a Tet corner with peach branches, apricot pots, a pot for cooking Chung cake, and pork rolls. Many artistic performances by artists from Tay Ninh, Vietnamese students, embassy staff, and traditional Vietnamese dishes left an unforgettable impression on expatriates and Cambodian friends.

The Homeland Spring 2026 program concluded, yet the warm and meaningful spring atmosphere will linger.
