Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee honours outstanding overseas Vietnamese at Homeland Spring 2026

The meeting, attended by 100 delegates from 32 countries and territories, was chaired by Madame Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Central Mass Organizations, and President of the Central Committee of the VFF; Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy – Vice President of the Central Committee of the VFF; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang reported to the President of the Central Committee of the VFF on the Homeland Spring 2026 program and the activities of the outstanding overseas Vietnamese delegation.

Providing information on the situation of the overseas Vietnamese community, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that there are currently over 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese residing in more than 130 countries and territories. The role, position, and reputation of the overseas Vietnamese community in their host societies are increasingly enhanced. They are more connected to their homeland, supporting the national unity policy and the country's development path, becoming an important resource for the nation's construction and development.

Recently, overseas Vietnamese have directly participated in significant socio-political activities of the country such as joining the Parade Block at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2; contributing opinions to the draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress (2,300 comments), as well as major national issues like green economy, science and technology, innovation; providing substantial, practical material resources for the country with remittances in 2025 reaching a record nearly 18 billion USD; and assisting compatriots in overcoming difficulties, rebuilding lives after natural disasters with nearly 45 billion VND and almost 15 tons of goods and materials.
On behalf of the outstanding overseas Vietnamese delegation, President of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong (China) Doan Quynh Linh expressed her honour to participate in the delegation attending the Homeland Spring Program; and thanked the Party, State, and VFF for always caring, listening, and creating conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to connect with their homeland and accompany the country's development.

The overseas Vietnamese affirmed that the overseas Vietnamese community is increasingly becoming an important resource for the country's development with their knowledge, international experience, global network, and spirit of returning to their roots.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang, an overseas Vietnamese in Switzerland, stated that the financial resources of overseas Vietnamese are significant and can be effectively utilized to serve the country's development goals if there are appropriate, transparent, and efficient mechanisms. Additionally, the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and the international community is vast, especially with the support, facilitation, and guidance from domestic agencies.

Mr. Huynh Tan Dat, an overseas Vietnamese in Australia, proposed three suggestions to the VFF: to lead in establishing a regular policy consultation mechanism with overseas Vietnamese youth; to sponsor and recognize the Network of Overseas Vietnamese Youth as an extension of the national unity bloc; and to develop a mechanism to acknowledge the social contributions of overseas Vietnamese youth through associations.
Ms. Quynh Linh affirmed that the State is building a more comprehensive legal framework for overseas Vietnamese, facilitating their return to live, work, invest, and do business in Vietnam. She also made several proposals such as simplifying procedures related to nationality, residence, labour, and employment for overseas Vietnamese returning home, continuing to improve housing and real estate policies, and allowing overseas Vietnamese to pilot new business and technology models in Vietnam.

The delegates expressed their desire to continue accompanying the Vietnam Fatherland Front and related agencies, turning proposals and opinions into specific, practical programs that meet the country's development needs.
Discussing the country's situation in 2025, President of the Central Committee of the VFF Bùi Thị Minh Hoài affirmed that the achievements of the past year are evidence of the leadership role and credibility of the Party, along with the trust and support of the people both domestically and abroad, including the overseas Vietnamese community.

The head of the VFF expressed joy at seeing the overseas Vietnamese community increasingly developing, growing in number, diversity, and strength; acknowledging the achievements of compatriots in their host countries as clear evidence of the valuable qualities of Vietnamese people: persistent effort, resilient spirit, and strong will to rise in life.
President Bui Thi Minh Hoai expressed emotion witnessing overseas Vietnamese, despite difficulties, always maintaining a heart towards their homeland and country; and highly appreciated the contributions in knowledge, economy, and management experience of overseas Vietnamese to the nation's construction and development process.

The impressive figures regarding the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the country reflect a spirit of encouragement and motivation for the Party and State, vividly illustrating the attachment and solidarity with the homeland of overseas compatriots.
Emphasizing the consistent policy of the Party and State to always consider the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese national community, the VFF leadership affirmed that specific policies related to overseas Vietnamese are increasingly being comprehensively and strongly implemented, clearly reflecting the affection and responsibility of the Party and State towards the overseas Vietnamese community.

For the Central Committee of the VFF, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai affirmed that generations of VFF leaders have always held affection and respect for the role and voice of our overseas compatriots, considering those included in the list of VFF members from the first term as carrying great honour and responsibility to represent the voice of the entire community and help the VFF truly become a house of great unity, a place to convey the sentiments and aspirations of compatriots to the Party and State.
The VFF regularly encourages and rewards outstanding overseas Vietnamese individuals and groups, reflecting recognition and appreciation for the invaluable contributions of compatriots to the community and the country.

The head of the VFF called on the overseas Vietnamese community to promote commonalities, ignite the spirit of self-reliance, self-confidence, and national pride, and together build a united, strong community abroad, continuing to accompany the nation from the very first steps on the path of the new era.
The Party, State, and VFF hope to receive accurate, breakthrough proposals and initiatives from overseas Vietnamese to unlock and continue to strongly promote the enormous resources of our overseas community in all fields, especially key areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, knowledge economy, digital economy, green economy, and circular economy, making significant contributions to the cause of national construction and development, aiming for the country's 2030 and 2045 goals.
At the meeting, the Central Committee of the VFF also awarded many outstanding and excellent overseas Vietnamese individuals and groups within the global Vietnamese community.
