The Homeland Spring 2026 program took place in a warm and joyful atmosphere at the Vietnamese Embassy in the capital city of Helsinki.

The event was attended by nearly 200 guests, including representatives of various Vietnamese associations and groups, along with a large number of expatriates from various regions across Finland who are living, studying, and working there.

In her speech at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Pham Thi Thanh Binh highlighted the country's remarkable achievements in 2025. Despite the complex developments in the global and regional situation, Vietnam maintained political and social stability, experienced positive economic recovery, ensured national defense and security, and gradually improved the people's living standards.

Foreign affairs and international integration continued to be proactively, comprehensively, and effectively implemented, enhancing Vietnam's reputation and position on the international stage, laying the groundwork for the country to enter a new era – an era of national resurgence.

The Ambassador also joyfully announced the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Party, held from January 19-23. The Congress set forth important development orientations for the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, aiming to build Vietnam into a powerful, prosperous nation with increasingly affluent and happy people.

On this occasion, the Ambassador conveyed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' gratitude to the Vietnamese associations, groups, and community in Finland for their best wishes to the Congress, reflecting the expatriates' interest, trust, and solidarity with the Party and the State.

Along with the nation's overall achievements, Vietnam's foreign relations with European partners, including Estonia and Finland, continued to be strengthened and developed robustly. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Estonia in 2025 opened up new avenues for cooperation in digital transformation, e-government, innovation, education and training, and the digital economy.

Notably, General Secretary To Lam's visit to Finland was of historical significance as the two countries elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, making Finland Vietnam's first strategic partner in the Nordic region. This is an important development, opening up long-term and extensive cooperation in education, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

The Ambassador affirmed that the positive results in bilateral relations owe much to the significant contributions of the Vietnamese community in Finland, who actively integrate into the local society while always looking towards their homeland, acting as a bridge of friendship between the two nations.

The Vietnamese community in Finland, though not large, is increasingly united, dynamic, and mature. The success of Vietnam Day in Finland "Era of Resurgence", organized for the first time in Helsinki in 2025, is vivid evidence of the community's spirit and strength. Many expatriates have achieved notable success in studies, research, labor, and business, contributing positively to Finnish society.

The Embassy always appreciates, acknowledges, and takes pride in these contributions.

During the program, attendees reflected on the Embassy's notable activities in 2025 through an emotionally rich video compilation. The Embassy's achievements in foreign affairs and community work were significantly supported by the enthusiastic participation of Vietnamese expatriates across Finland.

The movement to learn and preserve the Vietnamese language in Finland continues to develop positively. It is highly commendable that children born and raised abroad can still speak and love the Vietnamese language.

On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh awarded certificates of merit to students with excellent achievements in learning Vietnamese in the 2025 academic year, expressing the hope that the Vietnamese language will continue to be preserved and spread across generations of Vietnamese in Finland.

Also within the program's framework, the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland inaugurated the Traditional Room, which preserves and honors the contributions of Vietnamese Ambassadors to Finland over the years.

Homeland Spring 2026 was further enlivened by "homegrown" cultural performances by expatriates and children, traditional games, and dishes rich in Vietnamese Tet flavors.

The Homeland Spring 2026 program was not only a time for early spring reunions but also a bond that strengthens the community, nurtures homeland affection, and enhances the connection of Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Finland.
