Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum to take place in Quang Ninh

Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Ho Van Vinh, Director of Quang Ninh's Department of External Relations; Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of Quang Ninh's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; along with Mr. Fukuhara Teppei, Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, co-chaired the press conference.
With the theme “Comprehensive Development Partnership – Creating a Sustainable Future”, the Forum will be held on November 25 at the FLC Ha Long International Conference Center, Quang Ninh Province.
This event is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee. It aims to concretize the agreements made by the high-level leaders of both countries to strengthen the Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and globally, including local cooperation.
The Forum establishes the first regular dialogue and connection mechanism between localities of the two countries, contributing to enhanced exchanges, sharing of experiences, and promoting substantial cooperation, bringing harmonious benefits to both sides.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is expected to attend and deliver an important keynote speech.
On the Vietnamese side, leaders from various ministries, sectors, and related agencies, the Vietnamese Ambassador and Consuls General in Japan, leaders and representatives from local departments, corporations, companies, and notable experts will participate.
On the Japanese side, the Japanese Prime Minister will send a congratulatory message, and the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam will attend along with leaders and representatives from 15 Japanese localities, organizations, associations, businesses from Japan, as well as Japanese partners operating in Vietnam.
Within the Forum's framework, there will be over 100 networking and working activities among the parties.
The Vietnam-Japan Local Exhibition will also be organized with more than 40 booths showcasing local specialty products from Vietnam and Japan, and an area for cultural exchange experiences between the two countries.

Speaking to the press at the event, Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cultural Diplomacy, noted that this Forum features many “firsts”.
Firstly, this is the first local-level cooperation activity between Vietnam and Japan, organized with the highest level of government leadership participation from both countries.
Secondly, it is the first time a large number of Japanese localities, totaling 18, are coming to Vietnam to participate in the event.
Thirdly, on the Vietnamese side, it is the first time all 34 newly merged provinces and cities are participating.
Finally, it is also the first time Quang Ninh Province, after restructuring its apparatus, is co-hosting and organizing an international conference with such a large scale.
| According to the schedule, the Forum will feature several main activities, including the Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam-Japan Local Exhibition; the Plenary Session on Common Vision, Local Action, Creating a New Era; and the Meeting and Networking activities between government and businesses of the two countries. Additionally, the event will include various thematic sessions such as “Harnessing Local Strengths, Building a Prosperous Cycle: Trade and Investment – High-Quality Agriculture – Human Resources”, “Journey of Convergence: Cultural Connection, Source of Friendship”, “Vietnam-Japan Local Innovation: Synergizing Intelligence, Elevating Value, Creating a Digital Future”, and “Local Cooperation: Enhancing Resilience, Smart Adaptation to Climate Change”. |
