The seminar in Greece was attended by over 130 representatives from companies and enterprises needing labor in the fields of restaurants, hotels, factories, agriculture, employers, law consulting firms, universities, and Greek media agencies.

The event also saw the participation of 12 enterprises experienced in supplying Vietnamese labor to foreign markets, including Greece.
This is the first time the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece, in collaboration with Greek partners, has organized a seminar in this field. It aims to help businesses deeply understand the labor supply market, current policies, and practices in Greece and Vietnam. Additionally, it connects enterprises needing foreign labor, Greek labor service companies, with Vietnamese labor providers.

In her opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong emphasized that, in the context of the two countries celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations, the organization of the seminar demonstrates the determination and efforts of the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece. It aims to bring labor cooperation, a field with much potential yet to be fully tapped, into substantial and effective collaboration, thereby promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.

In June 2025, during a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations Ocean Conference between the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's proposal to welcome skilled Vietnamese labor.

In her speech, the Vietnamese Ambassador also introduced Vietnam's socio-economic development goals by 2030, with a vision to 2045, and the development direction of the workforce, especially skilled technical labor, to meet the country's development requirements in the new context. She also highlighted the government's policy to promote sending Vietnamese workers abroad, including to the European market and Greece in particular.

According to statistics from the Department of Overseas Labor Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, in recent years, Vietnam has sent nearly 160,000 workers abroad annually. Currently, about 800,000 Vietnamese workers are employed in 40 countries and territories, spanning more than 30 different occupational groups.
The European market is consistently regarded as a key market with a high demand for foreign labor. Specifically, in Greece, approximately 1,300 Vietnamese workers have been employed since the end of 2023.

To facilitate bilateral cooperation in this field, relevant authorities are negotiating and promoting the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two governments on labor supply.
Within the framework of the event, from December 12-15, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized activities to connect Vietnamese businesses with Greek partners in Athens and Thessaloniki.
