Vietnam Embassy in Belarus hosts reception celebrating 81st National Day
WVR - On the evening of September 2, in the capital city of Minsk, the Vietnam Embassy in Belarus solemnly organized a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026).

The event was attended by over 300 guests, including First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.V. Lukashevich; representatives from the leadership of both houses of Parliament, top leaders of the Belarusian and Communist parties of Belarus, ministries, sectors, and localities of Belarus; heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations in Minsk; the business community, and a large number of Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Belarus.

Notably, the ceremony was attended by generations of Belarusian veterans who were present in Vietnam during the resistance war for national reunification.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung recalled the significant historical milestone on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, an event that epitomized the Vietnamese nation's enduring aspiration for independence, freedom, and happiness.
Today, Vietnam has emerged as one of the most dynamic economies in the Asia-Pacific region, striving to become a modern industrialized nation with upper-middle-income status by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always values the solidarity and invaluable support of international friends, including the people of Belarus. The relationship between Vietnam and Belarus is entering a promising new phase following the establishment of the Vietnam-Belarus Strategic Partnership during the State visit of General Secretary To Lam to Belarus in May 2025.
The Ambassador expressed confidence that the Strategic Partnership between the two countries will continue to deepen, contributing to the prosperity of both nations, as well as to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
On behalf of the Government of Belarus, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs S.V. Lukashevich expressed pride in the glorious history of the Vietnamese people, affirming that, through the harsh challenges of history, the Vietnamese people have unified the country, demonstrating resilient will, courage, and deep patriotism.

Mr. Lukashevich expressed appreciation for the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, tested over time and connected by shared values, including the aspiration for peace and respect for historical memory. The establishment of the Strategic Partnership in 2025 has provided a strong impetus to promote relations between the two countries in various fields.
Particularly, the high level of trust and mutual understanding between the leaders of the two countries – President of the Republic of Belarus Lukashenko and General Secretary, President To Lam – plays a crucial role in strengthening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam.
Many Belarusian friends also expressed solidarity, attachment, and admiration for the achievements throughout the 81 years of building and defending our country, wishing our nation and people continued proud victories on the path of nation-building and defense.

The highest leaders of the State, Government, Parliament, and major political parties in Belarus also sent congratulatory letters and messages to the leaders of our Party, State, and Parliament on the occasion of the National Day.
At the solemn reception, the dances and songs of the Vietnamese language class children, Vietnamese students in Belarus, along with the performance of Vietnamese hat dance to the song “Viet tiep cau chuyen hoa binh” brought a joyful and proud atmosphere celebrating 81 years of the country's Independence.

The Vietnamese community in Belarus also prepared unique traditional dishes to introduce to international friends.
In addition to the diplomatic reception, the Vietnam Embassy in Belarus also organized exhibitions about the country, people of Vietnam, and the historical journey of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
