Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba solemnly celebrates the 81st National Day
On the evening of August 31, in the capital city of La Habana, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Cuba solemnly celebrated the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026). The event was attended by nearly 300 delegates representing various Cuban Party, State, Government, and National Assembly agencies, political-social organizations, the diplomatic corps, and the Vietnamese community in Cuba.

Comrade Esteban Lazo Hernández, Politburo Member, President of the Council of State, and President of the Cuban National Assembly, attended the ceremony. Additionally, from the Cuban side, there were Comrade Esteban Lazo Hernández, Politburo Member, President of the Council of State, and President of the Cuban National Assembly; Comrade Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba; Comrade Álvaro López Miera, Politburo Member, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba; Comrade Emilio Lozada García, Head of the Central Committee's Foreign Relations Department of the Communist Party of Cuba; along with leaders of many Cuban ministries, sectors, political-social organizations, and localities.
The ceremony was also attended by Ambassadors, Chargé d'affaires, Heads of international organizations in La Habana; a large number of the Vietnamese community in Cuba; representatives of Cuban intellectuals and friends, as well as numerous Vietnamese students studying in Cuba.
In his speech at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long recounted the 81-year journey of building and developing the country since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Ambassador highlighted Vietnam's significant achievements after 40 years of Renovation, as well as the country's development goals and vision in line with the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution, striving to become a developed, high-income nation by 2045. The Ambassador also informed the delegates about Vietnam's independent, self-reliant, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developmental foreign policy, emphasizing multilateralization and diversification of international relations, along with Vietnam's positive and responsible contributions to the international community.

Ambassador Le Quang Long emphasized the invaluable support from international friends over the past 81 years, including the sincere, pure support and loyal friendship of the Cuban people. The Ambassador highlighted the special significance of 2026 for the bilateral relations, marking the 60th anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro's immortal words: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood,” and the 100th birth anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro Ruz – a great friend and symbol of loyal international solidarity with Vietnam.
On behalf of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, Ambassador Le Quang Long expressed heartfelt gratitude for the affection, support, and loyal solidarity that the Party, State, and people of Cuba have extended to Vietnam over more than six decades; thanked the cooperation and friendship of Ambassadors, Heads of representative agencies, and international friends; and expressed confidence that the traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba will continue to be strengthened, developing more profoundly, substantively, and effectively for the benefit and happiness of the people of both nations.

In a cordial atmosphere, staff and officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba, along with Cuban friends and representatives from other countries, engaged in discussions about the situation in each country and international issues of mutual concern; viewed images showcasing Vietnam's dynamic development and deep integration with the world; and enjoyed distinctive traditional Vietnamese dishes.
