Vietnamese Embassy in China hosts ceremony marking 81st National Day
WVR - On the evening of 2 September, in Beijing, the Embassy of Vietnam in China solemnly hosted a ceremony to mark the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony on the Chinese side were Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei; Deputy Director of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission of China and Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress Huang Junhua; Major General Liu Bo from the Ministry of National Defence; former Chinese Ambassadors and Consuls General to Vietnam; as well as representatives from various ministries, sectors and localities, people engaged in friendship activities, veterans who had supported Vietnam during its resistance wars, representatives of businesses, universities, research institutes and hospitals, and reporters from Chinese news agencies and press organisations.
The ceremony was also attended by a large number of Ambassadors, Chargés d’Affaires, representatives of international organisations and members of the diplomatic corps in Beijing.
Representing Vietnam were Ambassador of Vietnam to China Pham Thanh Binh, along with all officials and staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in China, representatives of Vietnamese agencies, organisations and businesses, as well as Vietnamese nationals and students in China.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh stressed that, after more than eight decades of national construction and defence, particularly 40 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has achieved major and comprehensive accomplishments, emerging as a dynamic and deeply integrated economy with its international standing and prestige steadily growing, while making proactive, positive and responsible contributions to peace, cooperation and development in the region and around the world.
The year 2026 holds special significance for Vietnam. The successful 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has opened a new era of national development, setting the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income status by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
To achieve these goals, Vietnam is accelerating efforts to renew its growth model, improve institutions for development, build a streamlined, effective and efficient state apparatus, and promote science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, alongside the development of high-quality human resources, the private sector and strategic infrastructure.
In foreign affairs, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues an independent, self-reliant and resilient foreign policy centred on peace, friendship, cooperation and development; the diversification and multilateralisation of its external relations; and proactive, comprehensive, substantive and effective international integration.
Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

As part of its overall foreign policy, Vietnam considers consolidating and developing its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority. Vietnam also deeply appreciates the valuable support and assistance extended by the Party, State and people of China during the struggle for national independence as well as the country’s construction and development.
Building on 76 years of diplomatic relations, ties between the two Parties and the two countries have continued to maintain positive, comprehensive and substantive momentum. High-level and other-level exchanges between the two countries have been vibrant since the beginning of 2026, particularly Party General Secretary and President To Lam’s historic State visit to China in April 2026. The top leaders of the two Parties and countries held in-depth strategic exchanges, reached a number of important common understandings, elevated the positioning of bilateral relations and continued to provide strategic direction for Vietnam-China ties in the new period.
Substantive cooperation across various fields has grown strongly. Cultural, educational and tourism cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges, have yielded encouraging results, further strengthening the social foundation of bilateral relations. The two sides are effectively coordinating the implementation of the 2026-2027 Vietnam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation and the Red Journey for youth research and study exchanges.
The two sides have also maintained close coordination through multilateral mechanisms, contributing to the maintenance of an environment of peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the wider world.
At a meeting held ahead of the anniversary ceremony, Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei, on behalf of the Party, State and people of China, extended congratulations on the major national occasion of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, as well as on the major achievements Vietnam has made over the past more than 80 years.
He expressed his confidence that, under the leadership and strategic guidance of the senior leaders of the two Parties and countries, Vietnam-China relations will continue to be consolidated and developed, while the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance at a higher level in the new era, based on six major directions of cooperation, will generate further substantive achievements.
These efforts will contribute to the socialist modernisation of both countries, as well as peace, stability and prosperity in the region and around the world.
In a warm atmosphere of friendship, guests toured an exhibition showcasing outstanding Vietnamese brands and products, and enjoyed a special artistic programme as well as a selection of dishes featuring distinctive Vietnamese flavours.
