Throughout more than six decades of establishment and development, VEPH has consistently recognized Vietnamese not merely as a means of communication, but as the very soul of the nation’s culture and the foundation of national education. As the leading institution in the publication of textbooks, VEPH has comprehensively implemented a wide range of initiatives aimed at preserving, promoting, and disseminating the values of the Vietnamese language within Viet Nam and beyond its borders.
Preserving and developing Vietnamese Language
First and foremost, VEPH is the institution directly responsible for compiling and publishing Vietnamese language textbooks under the national general education curriculum, ensuring standards of accuracy, scientific rigor and linguistic quality, thereby contributing to the establishment of a solid linguistic foundation for students across all levels. Currently, VEPH undertakes research, collection, and compilation of works on folk literature, linguistics and pragmatics, thereby contributing to the modernization of the repository of Vietnamese language knowledge.
In response to the increasingly diverse demands of teaching and learning, VEPH has developed a comprehensive system of learning materials, including workbooks, advanced reference materials, dictionaries, literary works and Vietnamese language skill-development resources, tailored to a wide spectrum of learners. In support of overseas Vietnamese communities, VEPH has published textbook series such as Quê Việt (Homeland Viet Nam), Tiếng Việt vui (Joyful Viet Namese), and Chào tiếng Việt (Hello Vietnamese). VEPH has also collaborated with the Department of Foreign Service Television (VTV4) to produce Vietnamese language teaching programs for overseas Vietnamese children, such as Chào tiếng Việt (Hello Vietnamese) and Tiếng Việt diệu kì (Magical Vietnamese), which have been broadcast regularly on VTV4 and its digital platforms since April 2023, receiving strong interest and positive engagement from the overseas Vietnamese community.
In addition, VEPH has also collaborated with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) to organize training and professional development courses for teachers, sharing effective methodologies for teaching Vietnamese across numerous countries and territories.

Beyond its regular annual training programs, VEPH and SCOV recently joined hands with the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Khon Kaen (Thailand) to successfully organize a training course aimed at enhancing the teaching capacity of overseas Vietnamese teachers in Northeastern Thailand. During this training program, VEPH introduced and provided guidance on the use of a diverse and modern ecosystem of Vietnamese language learning materials; delivered in-depth modules on Vietnamese phonetics, pedagogical skills, techniques for managing multi-grade classes, and literary appreciation (through folk literature). These efforts equipped overseas Vietnamese language teachers with systematic and practical knowledge, methodologies, and inspiration for their teaching practice.
The digital learning ecosystem - comprising electronic textbooks, televised educational resources, and free multimedia materials represents VEPH’s commitment to serving the community and contributes to expanding opportunities for learners both within and beyond Viet Nam to access the Vietnamese language.
At the same time, VEPH has actively introduced books, promoted Vietnamese culture to the world, and supplied Vietnamese teaching and learning materials to educational institutions, cultural centers, and community schools. One of the most notable initiatives is the Vietnamese Bookshelf Project, jointly implemented by VEPH and SCOV since 2023. The bookshelves have been donated to communities in Fukuoka (Japan), Budapest (Hungary), Taiwan (China), Paris and New Caledonia (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic), Melbourne (Australia), Udon Thani (Thailand), Vientiane (Laos), Minsk (Belarus), Stockholm (Sweden), among others. The Vietnamese Bookshelf offers a diverse collection of book genres designed to meet the wide-ranging needs of overseas Vietnamese communities and it was awarded the Second Prize at the 10th National External Information Service Awards in 2024.
These endeavors reflect VEPH’s long-term commitment to preserving and advancing the Vietnamese language, not merely as an educational mission, but also as a cultural and political responsibility for the sustainable development of Vietnamese communities both at home and abroad.
Innovation and integration
VEPH has clearly defined that the preservation and dissemination of the Vietnamese language is not only a professional duty within the education sector, but also a cultural mission intrinsically linked to the national responsibility of safeguarding and promoting the country’s cultural identity in the context of global integration. On that foundation, in addition to further advancing ongoing initiatives that have already demonstrated positive results, VEPH has formulated a long-term development strategy with several key orientations.
VEPH places strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of Vietnamese textbooks and learning materials by pursuing standardization, modernization and humanistic values, while ensuring suitability for the diverse characteristics of learners. This is aimed at affirming the role of Vietnamese as a universal language capable of effective integration within both domestic and international educational environments. At the same time, VEPH is accelerating the application of technology in publishing and teaching, gradually building an open, flexible digital ecosystem of Vietnamese learning resources, thereby facilitating learners at home and abroad to access, utilize and benefit from them effectively.

In parallel, VEPH has intensified efforts to expand international cooperation and strengthen engagement with overseas Vietnamese communities through programs supporting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese, the implementation of publishing cooperation projects, and the exchange of copyrights for Vietnamese books. These initiatives contribute to promoting the Vietnamese language and culture more widely on the international stage.
In addition to specialized educational products, VEPH has also developed cultural–educational publications that integrate language, literature, history and national traditions. These publications play an important role in nurturing a love for the Vietnamese language, fostering an awareness of cultural roots and instilling a sense of national pride in the younger generations.
Remaining steadfast in its guiding principle of “advancing education – preserving cultural identity – serving the nation”, VEPH affirms the Vietnamese language as the fundamental cornerstone underpinning all strategies for development and innovation. Along this journey, VEPH is committed to continuing its close companionship with Vietnamese communities both at home and abroad in the preservation, development, and dissemination of Vietnamese - the sacred and richly distinctive language of the Vietnamese nation.
