Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet, representing the advisory board, expressed his emotion witnessing the serious participation of teachers worldwide. He emphasised that everyone is passionate about preserving and passing on the Vietnamese language to the younger generation, regardless of location. Representing the participants, Venerable Thich Phap Quang – Abbot of Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Sri Lanka – shared a touching story: the Vietnamese community in Sri Lanka, though only about 200 people, maintains three Vietnamese classes with over 60 children. Thanks to the training course, teachers there accessed structured curricula and modern methods, while exchanging and learning from international peers, gaining motivation to maintain Vietnamese in foreign lands.

Beyond training, the organisers also announced follow-up activities to build a global network.

Beyond training, the organisers also announced follow-up activities to build a global network. On September 29, the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese and Vietnamese Culture will officially launch. Concurrently, initiatives such as creating a “Map of Vietnamese Classes Worldwide”, collaborating with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology to digitise materials, digitise an electronic resource library, integrating technology into teaching, and organising regular organisations will be implemented. These are practical steps to support overseas teachers and enhance global connectivity.

According to UNESCO, the mother tongue is the “gateway to intangible cultural heritage”, and its preservation contributes to maintaining global cultural diversity. In the context of integration, where many indigenous languages are at risk of fading, the efforts of the Vietnamese community worldwide to retain and spread the Vietnamese language are increasingly commendable.

With the motto “Global Solidarity – Respect for Diversity – Encouraging Suitable Solutions for Each Country/Region”, the training course has concluded but has opened new journeys. Vietnamese – the language of love for the homeland – will continue to be preserved, nurtured, and spread thanks to the dedication of hundreds of teachers, resonating far and wide across foreign lands.
