In the jubilant atmosphere celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (19/8/1945-19/8/2025) and Vietnam's National Day (2/9/1945 - 2/9/2025), along with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975 - 2025), from September 4-6, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized the Vietnam Day event in Edessa, Pella region.
This is the first time the Vietnam Day event has been held in the northern Greek city, which has a special affection for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam.
The program featured two main activities: “Vietnamese Culinary Festival” and “Vietnamese Film Days”. The event quickly attracted the attention of local authorities and a large number of Edessa residents.
The festival space became lively with traditional dishes, handicrafts, and special souvenirs dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day, warmly received by the public.

This occasion not only promotes culture and cuisine but also strengthens understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong emphasized the event's special significance as it coincides with major milestones in the nation's history and diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the authorities and people of Edessa for their support and collaboration in making the event a success.
For his part, Edessa Mayor Ioannis Tsepkentzis expressed his honour in hosting Vietnam Day, affirming that the historical, cultural, and traditional similarities will continue to serve as a bridge connecting the two peoples.
He emphasized that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations is not only an occasion to reflect on the past journey but also opens a new phase of deeper and more effective cooperation.

Within the program's framework, Edessa audiences enjoyed documentaries showcasing Vietnam's development achievements over 80 years of national independence, documentaries on the special Vietnam-Greece and Vietnam-Edessa friendship, as well as some documentaries on President Ho Chi Minh and award-winning Vietnamese films at domestic and regional film festivals.
These authentic films contribute to providing the Greek public with a vivid view of Vietnam today and the friendly relations between the two peoples.
The Vietnam Day event in Edessa, Greece, received widespread attention from local media and Greek national television, thereby strongly spreading the message of friendship, cooperation, and the enduring bond between the two nations.
