Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, “Vietsovpetro” branch makes debut in Vung Tau

The “Vietsovpetro” branch of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association officially made its debut at a recent ceremony, held in the southern city of Vung Tau.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam Shovgi Mehdizada underlined this historic day, as the launch of the association was held on the same day and at the same place where Heydar Aliyev, the National leader of Azerbaijan, visited Vietnam 40 years ago, as the head of the biggest Soviet delegation to date, and the first foreign high-ranking leader to visit Vietnam after national reunification.

The Ambassador also noted that the visit in 1983 had played a key role in the development of the relations between the two countries and our nations.

In his speech, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam – Russia oil and gas joint venture Vietsovpetro and Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association Tran Quoc Thang emphasised, that the current initiative would make significant contributions to the development of the time-honoured relations between Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

For his part, Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association Dang The Vinh, spoke highly of the special significance of the new branch of the Association, as well as its future role in strengthening relations between the two countries.

The ceremony was followed by a reception organised by “Vietsovpetro”, where participants were served national Azerbaijani dishes, specially brought from Baku.
