The move reflects surging demand for travel and deepening ties between the two countries.

The inaugural flight to Bengaluru (VN983) departed Hanoi on May 1 with over 130 passengers and landed the same day. The return flight (VN982) carried more than 160 passengers, arriving in Hanoi early on May 2. The new route will operate four round-trip flights per week using Airbus A321 aircraft.

A second new route, connecting Hanoi with Hyderabad, will begin on May 7, offering three weekly round-trip flights, also serviced by A321s.

With these additions, Vietnam Airlines now operates six direct routes to four major Indian cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The airline’s Deputy General Director Dang Anh Tuan emphasized that the expansion underscores Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and South Asia, particularly as India continues to emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

Since entering the Indian market, Vietnam Airlines has operated more than 3,200 flights and transported over 511,700 passengers. In 2024 alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 500,000 Indian visitors, placing India among its top 10 inbound tourism markets.
