The event saw the participation of representatives from international NGOs operating in HCM City and southern provinces, and those from unions of friendship organisations in some localities.

HUFO President Do Viet Ha acknowledged the valuable contributions of international NGOs, emphasising their role in implementing the city's humanitarian and development programs.

HCM City has been recognised for effectively utilising foreign aid, with partnerships covering various sectors such as community development, healthcare, education, and social issues, he said.

By the end of 2024, 100 international NGOs were registered in the city, mainly in HIV/AIDS prevention, reproductive health, biomedical research, English and IT education, vocational training, and scholarships. Many organisations also provide care for orphans, people with disabilities, and Agent Orange victims, while supporting environmental protection and climate change initiatives.

In 2024, the municipal administration approved 49 aid proposals from international NGOs, amounting to approximately 475 billion VND (nearly 18.6 million USD). These included 32 project-based grants worth 294 billion VND and 26 non-project grants totaling 181 billion VND.

During the conference, participants discussed challenges to collaboration and explored solutions to improve aid effectiveness while ensuring compliance with regulations.

International NGOs that have made significant contributions to humanitarian efforts in HCM City were honored at the event.
