Dental implant prices in Vietnam: Economical options for overseas Vietnamese returning home at Year-End

| Statistics indicate that the number of overseas Vietnamese interested in, and requesting quotes for, dental implants increases by 30-40% at the end of the year. |
Records from several specialised implant clinics in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City show that requests for dental implant price consultations from the Viet Kieu community often surge by 30-40% during the year-end season.
Dental implant costs in Vietnam are 50-70% lower than abroad
In the US, Canada, Australia, or Europe, the cost for a single, comprehensive implant can range from $3,000 to $7,000 USD. In contrast, in Vietnam, the standard price for high-quality implant lines from Switzerland, the US, and Korea typically ranges from $300 to $1,800 USD (equivalent to 8 million to 35 million VND per pillar), depending on the material and bone condition.
According to experts, this significant cost difference stems from two main factors: Labour and operational costs in Vietnam are considerably lower. Furthermore, the direct import of high-quality implant materials, bypassing numerous intermediaries, helps optimise the final price. More importantly, the quality is guaranteed because the expertise of Vietnamese dentists is continually approaching international standards through rigorous training and ongoing professional development abroad.
“What surprises many Overseas Vietnamese is that for the same type of implant, the cost in Vietnam is sometimes only one-third of what they pay abroad. This is why they often combine their trip home with dental treatment to maximise savings,” shared Dr Nguyen Gia Bao, an implant specialist at Lac Viet Intech Dental Clinic.

Key factors that determine the price of dental implants in Vietnam
According to implant experts, the final cost of dental implants in Vietnam depends on several crucial factors:
- Type of Implant: (Korean, American, Swiss, etc.)
- Jawbone Condition: Whether bone grafting, sinus lift, or infection treatment is required.
- Surgical Technology: The use of surgical guides (surgical guides) to ensure placement accuracy.
- Doctor's Expertise: Highly specialised and experienced doctors, particularly for complex bone loss cases.
- Number of Follow-up Visits: A critical consideration for Overseas Vietnamese patients with limited time.
Understanding these cost components allows patients to make informed choices, avoiding misleading “too cheap - too fast” price lists that do not accurately reflect the true quality.

Issues to be wary of regarding implant costs
Many Overseas Vietnamese are often attracted by very low prices or commitments to “complete within 6/24 hours.” However, medical experts caution that these signals require careful consideration, as they can directly impact the actual cost and treatment timeline.
1. Not everyone can undergo immediate implant placement
Patients who have lost teeth for an extended period often suffer from severe bone loss, periodontitis, or a lack of supporting tissue. These cases require preliminary procedures, such as bone grafting, before the implant can be placed, resulting in additional time and cost.
Dr. Nguyen Gia Bao, Implant Director at Lac Viet Intech Dental Clinic, who possesses extensive experience treating complex Viet Kieu cases and is a regular guest on VTV health programs, shared: “For patients travelling long distances, particularly Overseas Vietnamese, Dr. Bao strongly advises sending a CT scan before their return to Vietnam. This proactive step enables the specialist to accurately assess the feasibility of implant placement, estimate the associated cost, and determine the required timeline. If severe bone loss is present and a preparatory treatment plan is not established, the patient, with only a few weeks of stay in Vietnam, risks being highly reactive and potentially requiring multiple trips to complete the procedure.”

2. Beware of "completed in 6/24 hours" advertisements
Many advertisements promise “new teeth in 6 hours,” leading patients to believe the implant process is instantaneous. However, experts clarify that these are merely temporary teeth, not the final permanent porcelain crowns.
Implants require a natural biological process of osseointegration, which takes at least 6-12 weeks, a time frame that cannot be technologically shortened.
Dr. Nguyen Gia Bao emphasised: “No implant is completed in a few days. Patients must clearly distinguish between temporary teeth and permanent teeth. We always advise this clearly so that patients living far away understand the actual time and total cost.”
Some clinics use the placement of temporary teeth to advertise an “all-inclusive price in just a few hours,” causing patients to misinterpret the actual value and incur significant additional costs in subsequent phases.
3. Choose a reputable dental clinic to optimise cost and time
For individuals visiting Vietnam for a short period, selecting a transparent dental clinic is a crucial factor in avoiding unexpected costs and ensuring warranty benefits upon return to their home country. Experts recommend the following:
- The clinic must provide a precise quote for each item and material.
- A detailed treatment plan must be prepared before the patient returns home.
- The clinic must have the capability to handle complex cases of bone loss.
- It must offer remote care and monitoring support.

Large implant systems in Hanoi, such as Lac Viet Intech, have implemented a specialised “remote planning and online consultation” process to help Overseas Vietnamese proactively manage their schedules and costs. This process includes verifying the doctor's international qualifications and ensuring the implant warranty policy is valid in the patient’s country of residence.
Dr. Nguyen Gia Bao concluded: “The price advantage of dental implants in Vietnam is significant, but to optimise costs, Viet Kieu must clearly understand the factors that comprise the final price and avoid common pitfalls. Careful preparation from afar will ensure the dental implant journey is effective, economical, and perfectly suited to their time back home.”
