Training Course on APEC Meeting Hosting Skills opens in preparation for APEC 2027

This is one of six courses funded by New Zealand, with implementation support from the British Council, aimed at enhancing the capacity of staff involved in organizing and managing APEC conferences. This course takes place from June 24-26, with participants being officials from various ministries, sectors, and agencies in Vietnam responsible for organizing, coordinating, and hosting meetings within the framework of APEC Year 2027.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van emphasized that Vietnam hosting APEC Year 2027 holds special significance, reflecting Vietnam's role, responsibility, and positive contributions to regional cooperation, economic integration, and development.

To adequately prepare for this important diplomatic event, the Deputy Minister stated that enhancing knowledge and skills for the staff involved in organizing, coordinating, and hosting APEC conferences is a key task.
The Deputy Minister appreciated the support from the New Zealand Embassy and the British Council in sharing practical experiences through the training program, expressing confidence that the course will equip participants with practical knowledge and skills, contributing to the successful preparation and organization of APEC Year 2027.

Caroline Beresford, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, commended Vietnam's efforts and commitment in preparing for APEC Year 2027. The Ambassador thanked the close cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APEC Vietnam Secretariat, and the British Council in developing the training program, affirming New Zealand's readiness to continue sharing experiences and supporting Vietnam in enhancing its capacity to host and manage APEC meetings.
According to the Ambassador, the course is a concrete testament to the effective cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Vietnam - New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

James Shipton, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, stated that the British Council is honored to accompany the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Embassy in supporting capacity building for the staff serving APEC Year 2027.
James Shipton emphasized that participants will be guided by a team of experienced international experts and lecturers from the British Council, thereby enhancing their skills in managing, handling situations, and leading discussions at APEC conferences as well as other multilateral forums.
According to the plan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam will coordinate with the British Council to train over 100 officials from relevant ministries and agencies involved in the preparation, organization, and service of APEC Year 2027 on meeting hosting and management skills in this series of courses.
