On 20th September, the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received cash and items with a total value of nearly 824 million VND from Vietnamese overseas in Korea, Germany, and Macao (China) to support the fight against Covid-19 in Viet Nam.

Always turn to homeland

Mr. Do Xuan Hoang, the Chairman of Vietnamese Association in Russia said that in the context of the high rate of infection and death due to Covid-19 in Russia, the Vietnamese community faced many difficulties. However, they have encouraged and supported each other to overcome the pandemic, restore their production and business, especially resumed the football tournament in 2021, thus increasing solidarity in the community.

Responding to the call of the Party, the government and Vietnam Fatherland Front, the community launched the donation project “Đồng lòng Việt Nam” (Together with Viet Nam) and within half a month, the Vietnamese overseas living in 26 Russian provinces and cities have raised up to about 130,000 USD.

According to Ms. Phan Bich Thien, President of the Vietnam Women's Union in Hungary, in the complex situation of the Covid-19 pandemic around the world, the Vietnamese community in Hungary are not exceptional.

The Vietnam Women's Union in Hungary helps its members and their relatives by establishing groups to provide information about the local government's pandemic prevention and control policies; giving food and necessities to families with infected being self-treated.

The association has also called for donations to assist people in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces to fight Covid-19, and have received more than 200,000 Euro until now.

Mr. Tran Ba Phuc, Chairman of the Vietnam Businessmen Association in Australia, said that the Vietnamese community in Australia really pay attention to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Viet Nam. The above stories were just among many stories shared at a conference with the participation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vietnamese overseas associations held at the end of August.

Not to forget the origins

Not only associations, but also many individuals in overseas communities have practical actions towards the homeland.

It was Mr. David Duong, President of California Waste Solutions (CWS) and Vietnam Waste Treatment Co., Ltd., who donated 250 ventilators; Mr. Tran Ngoc Phuc - Founder, Chairman and General Director of Metran, and Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Japan, the inventor of the Hummingbird high-frequency artificial ventilator, MV20 ventilator, who supported to implement the project which provides 2,000 MV20 ventilators to Viet Nam; Lawyer Vo Duc Duy, an Vietnamese overseas in the US, who negotiated to buy 500,000 Moderna vaccine vials to give to people in Ho Chi Minh City….

Promoting the power of national solidarity

The above impressive figures resulted from the process of “comprehensively and vigorously implementing the work on Vietnamese overseas" as stated in the 13th Party Congress’ documents.

This is the Party's recognition of the role of the overseas Vietnamese; with the policy of mobilizing the resources of Vietnamese overseas.

It is also the concretization of the Party's stance on "strongly reviving patriotism, the will for national self-reliance, the strength of national solidarity and the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country".
