Speaking at the ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko stated that the "Immortal Regiment" parade has become a tradition in Russia and many other countries worldwide to remember and honour those who participated in the Great Patriotic War, including frontline soldiers, guerrillas, and workers in the rear who bravely and selflessly contributed to the long-awaited victory.

The Ambassador noted that in the former Soviet Union countries, the war touched every family, leaving a mark on the fate of each individual. Therefore, the perception of this anniversary holds particularly profound significance.

The Ambassador shared: “We remember and honour each and every one. We do not forget the Vietnamese soldiers who fought alongside our people in the winter of 1941, in the battles defending Moscow. Their names are eternally inscribed in the memorial lists at the 'Path of Memory' Museum within the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces.”

The Ambassador also expressed remembrance for the Vietnamese heroes who sacrificed in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, as well as in the resistance war for national reunification.

The Russian diplomat emphasized the importance of remembering historical memories, ensuring we "live up to the memory of those looking at us from the faded photos in family albums," those who "fought for us, for our bright future, for our life under a peaceful sky."

For his part, Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou emphasized the duty of the younger generation to remember the sacrifices of the heroic martyrs and the losses of war victims.

“We joyfully celebrate another year of victory, but also cannot help but feel emotional remembering those who sacrificed themselves to give us the opportunity to live. The words 'No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten' remain sacred and eternal,” expressed the Belarusian Ambassador.

Belarusian Ambassador Uladzimia Baravikou offered profound insights into the context of the modern world, affirming the value of peace alongside the interests of the people and the protection of national sovereignty, proposing to promote a peace agenda on international forums. He emphasized: "We believe in the ideals of peace, goodness, truth, and justice – values that our forefathers believed in and did everything possible, even the impossible, to make them a reality."

Director of the Russian Science and Culture Centre Vladimir Murashkin acknowledged that the days associated with great historical events of the two nations always evoke similar emotions. These are moments to express gratitude and respect for the previous generation – those who endured the horrors of war and suffered irreparable losses.

According to Principal of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted Tran Thuy Duong, the "Immortal Regiment" parade is a meaningful international event. Victory Day against fascism holds special significance not only for the nations that triumphed in the most devastating war of the 20th century but also for all of humanity. The victory in the Great Patriotic War has become a symbol of resilience, courage, solidarity, and the noble sacrifice of millions who overcame countless challenges and endured immense losses to protect peace, freedom, and the right to live for future generations. For the Vietnamese people, this day holds deep significance. The Vietnamese people have a special empathy with nations that have experienced war, loss, and sacrifice to gain independence and freedom. We also cherish the value of today's peace and the sacred meaning of remembering those who have fallen.

The "Immortal Regiment" activity is thus not only a tribute to the past but also a bridge between generations, an occasion to express deep gratitude to the heroes who sacrificed, and a reminder to the younger generation of their responsibility to preserve historical truth, nurture patriotism, and contribute to building a peaceful, humane world.

The delegates also visited the exhibition "Portraits of an Era" by photographer Vera Mazhirina, paying tribute to the generation that experienced the events of 1941-1945 in the Great Patriotic War.
