Vietnam Consulate General in Luang Prabang organizes first 'I Love Vietnamese' contest

WVR - On the morning of March 27, the Vietnam Consulate General in Luang Prabang, Laos, collaborated with Pong-kham High School and the Vietnamese Association in Luang Prabang to organize the final round of the "I Love Vietnamese" contest for Lao and Vietnamese students studying at the school and children of the association members.

This significant event supports the launch of the Day of Honoring Vietnamese Language in the overseas Vietnamese community and the 2026 Vietnamese Language Ambassador Contest organized by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.

The event was attended by representatives from the Vietnam Consulate General in Luang Prabang, the Luang Prabang Department of Education, the Vietnamese Association in Luang Prabang, along with numerous teachers and students from Pong-khăm High School, Hung Vương Primary School, and children of the Vietnamese community in Luang Prabang.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly expressed happiness that this is the first time the "I Love Vietnamese" contest is held in Luang Prabang. He hopes this activity will encourage students to enthusiastically study and practice Vietnamese, becoming passionate Vietnamese language ambassadors who inspire and promote the teaching, learning, and speaking of Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community and among international friends.

Through the Vietnamese language, students will not only gain more understanding of the culture, history, and traditions of Vietnam but also have opportunities to study and work in Vietnam in the future.

Speaking on behalf of the Luang Prabang provincial government, Director of the Luang Prabang Department of Education, Su-li-đét, stated that the contest aims not only to create a useful playground for Lao students in Luang Prabang to enhance their foreign language skills and international integration but also to improve their knowledge and skills in Vietnamese. This fosters greater interest in Vietnam, laying an important foundation to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The contest was meticulously prepared by the Consulate General and Pong-kham High School since late December 2025. After preliminary rounds, the organizers selected four teams with 30 outstanding contestants in Vietnamese proficiency to participate in the final round.

Here, the judges presented a variety of rich and meaningful contest content, including greetings, knowledge, eloquence, and talents related to the culture and people of Vietnam and Laos. This allowed contestants to fully apply their learned knowledge to excel in their team's performance.

Within the framework of the contest, there were many musical performances showcasing the melodies of Vietnam and the Vietnam-Laos solidarity, performed by students. The lively interaction in Vietnamese between students and teachers left a deep impression on attendees.

At the end of the contest, the organizers awarded prizes to individuals and teams with the highest scores, along with many essential study tools to encourage and motivate students to continue excelling in their studies. This contributes to spreading the love for the Vietnamese language to a wide range of international friends and helps nurture the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring it remains evergreen and sustainable.
