This activity holds profound significance in fostering cultural exchange and enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries. It also contributes to concretizing the Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership Action Plan for the 2023-2027 period.
UBD's Vice Chancellor, along with lecturers and students from the Vietnamese language department, warmly welcomed Minister Le Hoai Trung. They respectfully invited the Minister to visit the poster exhibition area and attend a presentation session of the Vietnamese Level 6 class.
Speaking at the event and engaging with students, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that language is a bridge of knowledge and a key to unlocking the cultural and historical treasures of each nation.
The Foreign Minister expressed his emotion upon learning that Vietnamese is currently the only ASEAN foreign language taught at UBD and is one of the eight elective foreign languages at the university.
On this occasion, the Foreign Minister awarded a certificate of merit to Dr. Tran Trong Nghia, a Vietnamese language lecturer at UBD, in recognition of his dedicated contributions to promoting the national language there.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed that both sides explore the possibility of developing this program into a Vietnam Studies major or conduct in-depth research on Vietnam. He also encouraged the exchange of lecturers and students and the annual organization of activities such as the Vietnamese Language and Culture Day.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its relevant agencies, is ready to continue supporting UBD in providing learning materials, coordinating experts, and organizing cultural and educational exchange activities to further strengthen the friendship between the two nations.

| The Vietnamese language program at UBD has been implemented since 2022 and consistently attracts a stable number of 60 to 90 students each semester. To make the class more appealing, lecturers have adopted interactive communication methods through practical activities such as organizing cooking classes, simulating restaurant scenarios, teaching counting through the use of real money (VND), and instructing in handicraft techniques and introducing Dong Ho paintings. These methods not only motivate students to use Vietnamese in real-life communication but also spark their interest in traveling, interning, and working for Brunei-Vietnam enterprises after graduation. |
