Politburo member, FM Le Hoai Trung chairs online meeting with Heads of Vietnamese Representative Missions Abroad

WVR - On the afternoon of April 23, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Politburo member and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung chaired an online meeting with the Heads of Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad to review and assess the implementation of tasks and set directions for future missions.

Attending the meeting were Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan, heads and leaders of departments/units within the Ministry, advisory bodies of the Party Committee of the Ministry, along with the Heads of Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad (Missions) and key officials at these missions. The meeting was a crucial opportunity for the Ministry's leadership to directly discuss the situation in various regions, thereby promptly adjusting and supplementing major foreign affairs directions.

In his directive and discussion leadership speech, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Missions in closely following the directives of the Party, State, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proactively, positively, and flexibly implementing tasks effectively.

The Minister emphasized that in the context of increasing strategic competition and intertwined security challenges, the Missions have played a frontline role, promptly grasping the situation, actively advising and implementing many practical foreign activities, contributing to strengthening a peaceful and stable environment, leveraging external resources for national development, and enhancing Vietnam's international position and reputation.

The Minister commended the outstanding results in economic diplomacy, especially in promoting business connections, expanding markets, attracting investment, and technology transfer. The work of citizen protection, external information, and support for the Vietnamese community abroad was implemented timely and effectively, contributing to strengthening the trust of overseas Vietnamese.

During the meeting, representatives from domestic units and the Missions frankly exchanged views on difficulties and obstacles, while proposing solutions to enhance the effectiveness of work in key areas such as economic diplomacy, work with overseas Vietnamese, and citizen protection. Many proposals focused on strengthening coordination between domestic and Missions, improving the quality of information and data sharing for research and advisory work.

Concluding the meeting, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung requested the Missions to continue to deeply grasp the Party's foreign policy; enhance the quality of research and strategic advice, ensuring accurate and timely forecasts. The Foreign Minister emphasized the need to proactively adapt to new situations, avoiding passivity and surprises in all circumstances.

In the coming time, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung urged the Missions to continue to promote their role as the "extended arm" of the country, implementing foreign affairs pillars in a comprehensive and effective maner, with economic diplomacy as the focus, linked with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Additionally, it is necessary to strengthen connections with partners, localities, and businesses, actively seeking cooperation opportunities, and maximizing external resources for rapid and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister called for continued efforts in Party building, establishing a clean and strong agency; enhancing administrative discipline and order; promoting administrative procedure reform, applying information technology, aiming to build a modern, professional, comprehensive diplomacy that meets the task requirements in the new development phase of the country.
