The launch ceremony was attended by numerous parliamentarians from major political parties, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Van Hai, and Quan Minh Cuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly delegation of Cao Bang province, and Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam delegation visiting and working in Mexico.
The event was solemnly held at the headquarters of the Mexican House of Representatives, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975-2025). It underscores the increasingly important role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening political trust and promoting cooperation across various fields.
In her speech at the ceremony, Congresswoman Ana Karina Rojo Pimentel, Chairwoman of the Social Welfare Committee and Chairwoman of the Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, emphasized that the mutual affection between the two peoples stems from shared histories of independence struggles and a common love for peace. This was solidified with the official establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975, when Mexico was among the first Latin American countries to recognize a unified Vietnam.
According to Congresswoman Karina, the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group plays a crucial role in enhancing parliamentary, economic, cultural, and educational cooperation, thereby making the bilateral relationship more substantive and beneficial to the peoples of both nations.
Expressing her special affection for the S-shaped country after several visits, Karina emphasized, “A part of Vietnam lives within me” and expressed her hope that many Vietnamese people will visit Mexico to experience the warmth and hospitality of its people.
Following Congresswoman Ana Karina Rojo Pimentel, Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai highlighted that the Vietnam-Mexico relationship is built not only on traditional friendship but also on mutual benefits and economic and trade cooperation. The two countries are increasingly leveraging each other's economic complementarities within the framework of free trade agreements, particularly the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The Ambassador expressed confidence that the Parliamentary Friendship Group will become a bridge to promote delegation exchanges, share legislative experiences, and support businesses from both countries in exploring new cooperation opportunities.
