Spring Festival of the Vietnamese community in 2026: Strengthening the bonds of overseas Vietnamese in Vancouver, Canada

WVR - The Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver (Canada) organized the Community Spring Festival to celebrate the Year of the Horse, creating a gathering space for nearly 300 overseas Vietnamese.

On the evening of February 6 (local time), the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver (Canada) held a grand Community Spring Festival to celebrate the Year of the Horse 2026 at the False Creek Community Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The event took place in a warm atmosphere rich in national identity, attracting nearly 300 Vietnamese residents living and studying in British Columbia and nearby areas, along with all the staff of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver and their families.

The Community Spring Festival is an annual event of significant importance, reflecting the interest of the Party, State, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in the overseas Vietnamese community. It also contributes to preserving and spreading traditional cultural values among the expatriate community.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Consul General in Vancouver Phan Kieu Thu warmly welcomed the Vietnamese community in Vancouver and surrounding areas to the 2026 Spring Festival.

On behalf of the Consulate General, she extended New Year greetings to all attendees and their families. She also shared information about Vietnam's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, foreign affairs, and international integration, as well as the results of the 14th Central Committee Conference of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Consul General Phan Kieu Thu also discussed the bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Canada, highlighting positive developments in the fields of economy, trade, education, and people-to-people exchanges. She provided updates on the living, studying, and working conditions of the Vietnamese community in Vancouver and the western provinces of Canada.

The Consul General acknowledged and appreciated the positive contributions of the expatriate community to their homeland and the local society.

Representatives of the Vietnamese community in Vancouver expressed their joy and emotion when attending the Community Spring Festival organized by the Consulate General. They considered it a meaningful occasion to meet, connect, and reminisce about the beautiful traditions of Vietnam during the traditional Tet holiday away from home.

In addition to the formal ceremony, the program offered a lively and joyful atmosphere with many special cultural performances by artists and cultural enthusiasts from the local Vietnamese community. Spring songs, folk dances, traditional musical instrument performances, and other homeland-inspired acts left a deep impression on attendees.

During the program, attendees also enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes in a warm and friendly atmosphere, helping to ease homesickness and bring the flavours of Vietnamese Tet to the community in Canada.

The 2026 Spring Festival in Vancouver concluded successfully, leaving many fond memories and a deep impression. It reaffirmed the role of the Vietnamese Consulate General as a bridge connecting the community, preserving cultural identity, and maintaining ties with the homeland.
