Harnessing the strength of national unity
On the morning of May 12, speaking at the opening session of the Congress, Politburo Member and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc affirmed that the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) is a significant political event, showcasing the strength of national unity in the new era.
According to the Standing Deputy Prime Minister, in the context of complex and unpredictable global developments, under the leadership of the Party, the companionship of the National Assembly, the VFF, and the involvement of the entire political system, the Government has decisively and flexibly managed to maintain macroeconomic stability and promote growth.
In 2025, Vietnam's GDP reached 8.02%, ranking among the highest in the region and the world; the economy's scale reached 514 billion USD, ranking 32nd globally. In the first quarter of 2026, GDP growth reached 7.83%; FDI attraction continued to increase positively; total import-export turnover reached nearly 344.2 billion USD.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in these overall achievements, there is significant contribution from the increasingly close and substantive coordination between the Government and the VFF. Both sides have effectively coordinated in mobilizing and gathering people, implementing patriotic emulation movements, caring for social welfare, policy critique, and expanding people-to-people diplomacy.
Notably, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with the theme "A Warm Home for My People" was completed more than five years ahead of the target set by the 13th Central Resolution. Many policies supporting tuition fees, health insurance, and care for the poor and remote areas have also been implemented synchronously.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc emphasized that in the coming period, the VFF and the Government need to continue to innovate strongly in content and coordination methods in a substantive, measurable way; placing people at the center, as the subject and motivation of all actions.
He stated that in the era of national resurgence, the cooperation between the Government and the VFF is the "key" to transforming the spiritual strength of over 100 million people into material resources for national development.

Truly the "Voice of the people"
At the Congress, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized the role of the VFF in legal construction, social critique, and promoting democracy.
According to Nguyen Thi Thanh, during the past term, the VFF has been deeply involved in the process of amending the 2013 Constitution and constructing 159 laws along with many important resolutions. The Front system organized nearly 62,000 conferences, gathering over 51 million opinions from the people, experts, and intellectuals in the process of amending and supplementing the Constitution.
Social critique work has increasingly gone in-depth, becoming an effective "filter" to enhance policy quality, ensuring practicality and the legitimate rights of the people.
The Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly believes that in the context of the country entering a new development phase with the requirement to perfect institutions, promote innovation, and digital transformation, the VFF needs to continue to play the role of a bridge between the "Party's will" and the "people's heart".
"The VFF must truly become the 'voice of the people', a crucial channel for building a democratic, fair, synchronized, transparent, and feasible legal system," Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized.
She also suggested that the VFF continue to innovate in content and methods of mobilizing the people towards being closer and more connected to the people; effectively combining traditional methods with digital transformation applications to bring policies and guidelines into life.
Digital transformation to be closer to the people
One of the topics that garnered much attention at the Congress was the discussion on digital transformation by Bui Huyen Mai, Chairwoman of the VFF Committee of Hanoi.
According to Mai, digital transformation is no longer an option but has become a "strategic mandate" to innovate the operational methods of the Front system. Technology is the bridge for the Front to be closer to the people, listen, and serve them better.

She illustrated that previously, reporting an issue like flooding or environmental pollution to the authorities could take weeks through community meetings and letters. But now, through the iHanoi app, people can send information directly to the processing agency in real-time with just a few taps on their phones.
"Information from the city to the grassroots is now measured in seconds," Mai said. According to her, digital transformation is not merely about investing in equipment or software but a revolution in governance thinking and serving the people.
The VFF of Hanoi is currently focusing on areas such as building a unified digital ecosystem, applying AI in communication, creating a shared data repository, and piloting the "digital village and neighborhood" model.
Notably, the Capital Front also aims to proactively "listen to social media", using technology to early identify civic issues and forecast social "hot spots".
According to Bui Huyen Mai, when technology helps eliminate geographical distances and data helps understand people's needs, the strength of national unity will be even more strongly promoted.
Using people's enjoyment as a measure
In her discussion at the Congress, Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the VFF Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the city always determines that using the people's enjoyment as the foundation for building the national unity bloc. According to her, "people's enjoyment" is the measure of the effectiveness of movements, campaigns, and social welfare activities.
After restructuring the two-level local government, Ho Chi Minh City issued 23 policies directly related to people's lives, including many policies with humanitarian significance such as 100% tuition fee support, health insurance for many groups, child support for orphans up to 18 years old, and free health checks for citizens.

Besides, the city continues to maintain social welfare funds, the "For the Poor" program, "For the Homeland's Sea and Islands – For the Nation's Frontline", providing timely support to the vulnerable and difficult areas.
According to Truong Thi Bich Hanh, reality shows that the strength of national unity is always a particularly important resource for the city, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and economic recovery phase.
In the coming period, the VFF of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to accompany the government in digital transformation, building united, safe, and compassionate communities; using people's satisfaction and enjoyment as the highest goal.
Elevating people-to-people diplomacy in the new era
At Discussion Center No. 4 of the Congress, the issue of enhancing the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy and leveraging the resources of overseas Vietnamese received many heartfelt opinions.
Le Thi Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the VFF, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union, stated that in the new context, people-to-people diplomacy and the work of overseas Vietnamese are particularly important in expanding the national unity bloc.
According to her, the VFF needs to strongly innovate the content and methods of diplomacy towards professionalism, enhancing cultural diplomacy, proactively protecting national interests, and leveraging the resources of the intellectual and business communities abroad.
Continuing this topic, Phan Anh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, emphasized that people-to-people diplomacy has now become a pillar in the country's comprehensive and modern diplomacy.
He noted that each year, foreign non-governmental organizations support Vietnam with about 240-245 million USD, demonstrating the practical effectiveness of international advocacy work.
Phan Anh Son affirmed that people-to-people diplomacy has a special advantage in areas or fields where official diplomacy is difficult to access. At the same time, it is also an important channel to defend national interests on issues of democracy, human rights, the East Sea, or the Mekong River.
He proposed that the VFF should build a comprehensive coordination mechanism for people-to-people diplomacy activities, enhance staff training, and remove procedural barriers to promote more effective international cooperation.

Igniting the aspiration for development from people's strength
From the discussions and opinions at the Congress, it can be seen that the overarching spirit emphasized by many delegates is to strongly innovate the operational methods of the VFF towards being substantive, close to the people, and placing people at the center.
This is not only about caring for social welfare or reflecting the people's thoughts and aspirations but also about igniting the aspiration to contribute and mobilizing all resources domestically and internationally for the goal of developing a strong and prosperous nation.
In the context of the country entering a new development phase with many intertwined opportunities and challenges, the strength of national unity continues to be seen as an important foundation for building social consensus, consolidating trust, and promoting national internal strength.
With the spirit of "Solidarity – Democracy – Innovation – Creativity – Development", the 11th National Congress of the VFF is not only a significant political milestone but also opens up expectations for a stronger innovation phase of the Front system in its journey to accompany the people, serve the country, and build an increasingly solid national unity bloc.
