Indonesian gov’t provides 5.5 trillion Rp for local fruit development
Indonesian Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman said the government has allocated 5.5 trillion rupiah to support local farmers in developing local fruit and food crops.

"This is the president’s order. We will provide seed and fertilizer assistance worth 5.5 trillion Rp from September this year until next year," the Indonesian news agency Antara quoted the minister.

The minister Amran attending the launch of a local fruit campaign on August 13 said that, for seedlings in particular, the variety would be adjusted to the specialty of each region.
He also said that Indonesian local fruits have great export potentials. The reason is that other countries have expressed interest in the country’s local fruits such as mango, mangosteen, and pineapple, especially four-season countries.
"Mango and mangosteen have good prospects. So does pineapple. A lot of countries have expressed their interests to our fruits including Japan, China, and Europe, there are demands for pineapple and mangosteen in such countries," the Minister concluded.
