Highland market celebrates National Day in the capital Hanoi
WVR - From August 29 to September 2, the event themed “Highland Market – Plateau Festival” takes place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Dong Mo, Hanoi), showcasing cultural spaces, handicrafts, cuisine, local products, and traditional artistic activities of ethnic communities.

The event is part of a series of activities celebrating National Day on September 2, creating a space for visitors to experience the unique cultural life of the northern highlands and the Central Highlands regions.
Throughout the program, the Northern Highland Market is organized with spaces rich in cultural colors from localities such as Cao Bang, Son La, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang...

Here, visitors can explore and experience various traditional crafts introduced by ethnic artisans from Cao Bang province, such as papermaking, hat making, brocade embroidery, beeswax stamping, and Phuc Sen knife forging.
The market space also introduces many ethnic dishes such as thang co, men men, steamed sticky rice, grilled chicken, roasted pork, grilled fish; along with local products including brocade, musical instruments, dried goods, wine, bamboo shoots, vermicelli, and fresh vegetables and fruits.
Folk games like bamboo dancing, con throwing, and shuttlecock kicking are organized for visitors, especially children, to directly participate in and learn about traditional cultural activities.
Reenacting traditional festivals and customs
Within the event's framework, Nung ethnic artisans from Cao Bang province introduce the Cat Lion Dance, a folk performance art associated with the community's cultural life.
The “Vui Tet doc lap” program by ethnic artisans from Cao Bang and Son La provinces is also organized at 9:30-10:30 AM and 3:00-4:30 PM, featuring folk songs, dances, and cultural exchange activities.
On August 30, at the Nung ethnic village, a program reenacting the Harvest Festival of the Nung ethnic group from Cao Bang province takes place from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The traditional ceremony expresses wishes for favorable harvests, abundant life, and peace.
On September 1, at the Dao ethnic village, visitors can watch a reenactment of the Wedding Procession of the Dao ethnic group from Cao Bang province, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The activity contributes to introducing the distinctive customs and rituals in the Dao community's life.
On the same day, the folk song and dance program “Central Highlands Vui Tet doc lap” of the ethnic communities in the Central Highlands takes place at the Ba Na ethnic village, with two time slots from 9:00-10:30 AM and 2:30-4:00 PM.
Highland colours on National Day
On September 2, the program continues with many activities rich in ethnic cultural identity. From 9:00 to 10:00 AM, at the Thai ethnic village, a program reenacting the New Rice Celebration of the Thai ethnic group from Son La province takes place.

On the same day, the folk song and dance program “Central Highlands Vui Tet doc lap” of the ethnic communities in the Central Highlands is organized at the Raglai ethnic village, with two time slots from 9:00-10:30 AM and 2:30-4:00 PM.
Through this series of activities, “Highland Market – Plateau Festival” helps bring customs, festivals, handicrafts, cuisine, and folk arts closer to the public.
This is also an opportunity for visitors to experience the diverse cultural space of Vietnam's ethnic communities in the atmosphere of celebrating National Day on September 2.
