Hanoi Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai urged all levels, sectors, and each official to strive harder and be more responsible to contribute to the successful organization of the A80 event.
On the morning of August 23, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee chaired a meeting with subcommittees assisting the Organizing Committee of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
Proactively taking on and implementing tasks, ensuring progress and quality
At the conference, leaders of the Hanoi People’s Committee, departments, and relevant localities reported in detail on the implementation of assigned tasks, especially the organization of the celebration, parade, and march; services for the public; security and order; traffic control; environmental sanitation; as well as specific details such as parking arrangements for delegates, shuttle services, weather forecasting, and contingency plans.
According to the preliminary report of the Party Committee of the People’s Committee, Hanoi is urgently finalizing preparations for the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day (collectively referred to as Task A80), including the parade, march, and numerous other activities.
At Ba Dinh Square, additional grandstands have been installed with a total seating capacity of more than 25,500. Construction has been carefully reinforced, with structures strengthened to withstand five times the actual load. Four large LED screens have also been installed at the Square to serve the ceremony and live broadcasting. The city has also set up 665 loudspeakers along the parade routes.
Hanoi has prepared 60,000 items ranging from hats and paper fans to hand flags, along with hundreds of thousands of light snacks for the public and delegates. One million bottles of water and 800,000 pastries have been stockpiled to serve participants and the public.
For transportation, 252 shuttle buses for delegates have been arranged. The frequency of the two metro lines has been increased to one trip every six minutes, with service extended until midnight. Plans for ensuring public security, traffic safety, and fire prevention have also been developed and implemented.

Medical preparations include 370 staff and 37 ambulances on standby at event locations. The official A80 website was launched on August 10 and has since attracted 2 million views and interactions. The city has also recruited 8,800 volunteers to support logistics and provide guidance during the event.
Major General Dao Van Nhan, Commander of the Capital Command, reported that about 20 large tents, each 100m², are being set up, with additional sites being sought to accommodate more tents for the public.
On this matter, Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested the Capital Command to provide additional water and seating for citizens, especially veterans, the elderly, women, and children.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh reminded service forces, including youth volunteers, to strictly observe discipline, proper conduct, and politeness; and to pay particular attention to arranging seating, shading, and rain protection for veterans and the elderly.

Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha reported that delegate parking lots are about 500 meters from the grandstands, with electric carts arranged for senior delegates and war veterans. The city has directed localities to clear sidewalks to create more viewing space for the public during the parade and march.
City leaders particularly emphasized cleaning before, during, and after rehearsals and the main event, mobilizing functional forces, encouraging citizen participation, and providing gloves and trash bags to maintain hygiene. Additional public toilets are also being installed with supervision to ensure cleanliness.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh instructed the Hanoi Police to thoroughly review security measures to prevent any disorder or unsafe incidents.
Standing Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong noted that from the outset, the Standing Committee adopted the principle of proactively taking on and managing responsibilities, which has proven entirely correct. Preparations are generally on track. He reminded wards and communes to remain proactive and share responsibilities with the city. Communication strategies must be detailed and timely, using not only traditional media but also digital platforms.

Showcasing Hanoi’s hospitality and beauty
Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai highly appreciated the efforts of departments, agencies, wards, communes, and subcommittees who have worked with great dedication, regardless of time or weather, especially the armed forces, police, Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Construction, and Department of Agriculture and Environment.
She requested that departments, agencies, wards, and communes take into account the opinions of city leaders in order to continue implementing their tasks. The Party Secretary emphasized that all levels, sectors, and every citizen of Hanoi must recognize that the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and the September 2 Independence Day parade and celebration are of great national significance. Hanoi should feel honored and proud to devote its efforts to organizing and serving this historic event.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai reminded all forces—especially the Police and Army—that their foremost responsibility is to ensure absolute security and safety, including fire and explosion prevention, and to guard against any potential incidents during this period, from preliminary and final rehearsals to the main ceremony and the fireworks display at My Dinh Stadium. All possible scenarios must be anticipated, with contingency plans fully prepared to respond proactively, avoiding passivity or surprises. Local Party committees and authorities in wards and communes must actively lead, direct, and participate in this effort to “share the responsibility” with the Police, Army, and city agencies.

Hanoi Party Secretary instructed the Party Committee of the People’s Committee to ensure that every step is carefully organized, reflecting Hanoi’s hospitality and cultural refinement. Each agency, organization, and participant must remain proactive and flexible, with the ultimate goal of making the event a complete success.
She stressed that organizers must prioritize veterans, revolution contributors, the elderly, women, children, and people with disabilities, ensuring the best possible conditions for citizens to experience pride and joy in the nation’s achievements and development.
Accordingly, local forces and communities must carefully review every task and area, prepare contingency plans, and mobilize families and citizens to provide additional viewing space, seating, rest areas, toilets, food, and drinks, while maintaining cleanliness and urban beauty throughout the event.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai concluded: “You have already worked hard, but must work harder; you have been responsible, but must take even greater responsibility. Be proactive, active, and coordinated in carrying out tasks. A80 is a large-scale and meaningful event for our nation. Therefore, we must strive so that when we look back, each of us feels proud of our contribution to the success of this historic event”.
