The Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee emphasized that the Republic of Korea is a leading strategic investment partner of Hai Phong, with over 321 projects and a total capital of approximately 15.4 billion USD. Among these, the LG Complex, with more than 10.6 billion USD in investment and over 31,000 employees, stands as a symbol of successful cooperation.

The Chairman stated that Hai Phong is entering a new development phase with many breakthrough drivers: GRDP in 2025 increased by 11.81%, ranking second nationwide; new FDI in the first five months of 2026 rose by 76.3% compared to the same period; and the investment environment continues to improve significantly, being transparent and favorable.

With the establishment of the Hai Phong Free Trade Zone and specific preferential mechanisms, the city hopes to continue attracting high-quality investment waves from the Republic of Korea, contributing to a substantive, effective, and sustainable development of Hai Phong - Republic of Korea cooperation.

Ambassador Vu Ho highly appreciated Hai Phong's role as a highlight in Vietnam-Republic of Korea investment cooperation, with advantages in seaports, industrial infrastructure, strategic location, and dynamic governance environment.

The Ambassador emphasized that projects by Republic of Korea enterprises, notably LG and its supporting business ecosystem, have significantly contributed to the formation of a high-tech production center in Hai Phong.

The Ambassador suggested that, in the context of global supply chain restructuring, Hai Phong - Republic of Korea cooperation should shift from attracting projects to creating value. This involves not only increasing investment capital but also enhancing quality, promoting technology transfer, innovation, human resource training, and deeper integration with Vietnamese enterprises.

Ambassador Vu Ho proposed three key areas of cooperation: attracting high-quality FDI in semiconductors, batteries, electric vehicles, clean energy, green ports, and smart cities; establishing Hai Phong as a Republic of Korea supply chain center in Vietnam; and enhancing high-tech human resource training.
