The activities focus on recreating the “Hanoi Tet” experience associated with family, craft villages, cuisine, and signature products, combined with heritage, community, and experiential tourism programs across the city, thereby spreading the “Hanoi Tet” image to both domestic and international tourists.
Kicking off the 2026 Tourism Year with “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2026 – Get on Hanoi 2026”
In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo, from January 30 to February 1, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Tay Ho Ward People's Committee, will organize the program “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2026 – Get on Hanoi 2026” with the theme “Green Journey” at the Tay Ho Creative Cultural Space – Trinh Cong Son Street.
This is the opening promotion and tourism stimulus activity of the capital's tourism sector in 2026, contributing to continuing to build the image of Hanoi as a “Safe – Friendly – Quality – Attractive” destination, while also supporting the National Tourism Year 2026 – Gia Lai and promoting cooperation and tourism development links between Hanoi and Gia Lai.
“Happy Tet 2026” – A Traditional Tet Cultural Rendezvous at Thang Long Imperial Citadel
Continuing the series of activities, from February 6 to February 10, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, the City Union of Friendship Organisations, and related departments, will organise the Happy Tet 2026 Program with the theme “Tet is Happiness” at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
Happy Tet is an annual event of special significance, recreating the space of traditional Vietnamese Tet, thereby promoting the unique traditional cultural values of the capital and regions to domestic and international tourists and to overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet. Through a diverse range of activities, the program aims to establish Happy Tet as a distinctive cultural-tourism experience destination in Hanoi every spring, while raising community awareness, especially among the younger generation, in preserving and promoting national cultural heritage values.
A Series of Unique Festivals and Events Welcoming Spring Binh Ngo
Along with key programs, many departments, sectors, and localities across the city are organising events to welcome the new year, such as:
- Spring Binh Ngo 2026 Tet Fair with the theme “Joyful Spring – Reunion Tet”;
- 103 Spring Flower Markets for Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026 in 55 communes and wards (expected);
- Spring Binh Ngo Calligraphy Festival and cultural, artistic, and calligraphy writing experiences at the Temple of Literature;
- Reenactment of the “Farewell to the Old, Welcome the New” ceremony, spring incense offering ceremony, exhibitions, water puppet shows, dry puppet performances, and folk performances at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site;
- Traditional festivals such as the Dong Da Mound Festival, Hai Ba Trung Festival, Huong Pagoda Festival…
Diverse Tourism Experience Products During Tet
During this period, Hanoi continues to promote tours and routes associated with historical, cultural values, and urban spaces, while introducing many new tourism products such as:
- “Flag Tower Memories” tour combined with 3D Mapping “Thang Long Capital” performance;
- Night bicycle tour “Beautiful Hanoi Sound”;
- “Hanoi – Touching Memories” experience tour around Truc Bach Lake;
- Green Tourism Da Phuc – River Camping tour…
These products help diversify experiences and meet the sightseeing, entertainment, and recreational needs of residents and tourists during the holiday.
Hotels Launch Promotions, No Price Increases During Tet
Alongside festival activities, the city's hotel system is offering many promotional accommodation packages, organising New Year’s Eve parties, accommodation–dining service combos, and investing in Tet decorations to attract tourists, while committing to no surcharges or price increases during the Lunar New Year. These programs are expected to increase the length of stay, enhance room occupancy rates, and promote the capital's tourism image.
With comprehensive preparation, proactive coordination among levels, sectors, localities, and the business community, Hanoi's tourism sector aims to effectively serve the sightseeing and leisure needs of residents and tourists during the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo, thereby affirming the capital's position as a green – safe – friendly – quality – attractive destination, setting the stage for tourism growth from the early months of 2026.
