In a solemn atmosphere, a delegation comprising staff of the Consulate General, representatives of the Friendship Association with Vietnam in Primorye, the Russian Veterans Association, the Vietnamese community in Primorye, and a large number of Vietnamese students studying in Vladivostok observed a moment of silence to remember the immense gratitude owed to the beloved leader who dedicated his life to the cause of national independence and reunification.

Shared values strengthen friendship
Speaking about the historical significance of the Spring Victory of 1975, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien affirmed that this was a glorious milestone not only for Vietnam but also for peace-loving people worldwide. He emphasized that the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh was the decisive factor in achieving this great success. Continuing the spirit of victory and International Labor Day on May 1, generations of Vietnamese people at home and abroad today are continuously contributing their intellect and labor to the country's renovation and development.

On this occasion, the Consul General expressed deep gratitude to the people and Russian veterans in Primorye for their heartfelt support and assistance to Vietnam over the decades. He highly appreciated the role of the Friendship Association with Vietnam in Primorye and the local Veterans Association, believing that these organizations will continue to be important drivers in promoting strong friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The Consul General also commended the close ties of the Vietnamese Association in Primorye and the entire community living and studying there. He affirmed that the people, intellect, and efforts of the Vietnamese community in Primorye are an inseparable part of Vietnam, both in the past and as the country enters a new phase of development, contributing to strengthening the friendship and enduring relationship between Vietnam and Russia.

Confidence in a strong future
Following the flower offering, the 51st anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Reflecting on the achievements over more than half a century, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien proudly shared the country's new position with an economy ranked 32nd in the world and a GDP of approximately 510 billion USD. This success is attributed to the leadership of the Party, the sacrifices of previous generations, and the continuous contributions of the Vietnamese community abroad, including those in Primorye.

Referring to symbolic projects such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Thang Long Bridge, Vietsovpetro Joint Venture, Labor Culture Palace, Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital, Vietnam-Russia Friendship Monument in Cam Ranh, and notably, the agreement to build the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant recently signed during the Prime Minister's visit to Russia in March 2026, the Consul General stated that these are testaments to the new heights of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. He also expressed confidence that such symbols of friendship will continue to emerge in both Vietnam and Russia.

Expressing his honor to participate in the anniversary, Mr. Vlasov Evgeniy Evgenievich, Chairman of the Friendship Association with Vietnam in Primorye and Deputy Director of the Far Eastern Federal University, stated that Vietnam's April 30 event, similar to Russia's Victory Day on May 9, holds significant importance in the hearts of the people of both countries. Due to this similarity, he feels the profound importance and significance of the April 30 Victory, the complete liberation of the South, and the reunification of Vietnam.
He expressed confidence that those who witnessed the challenging war years will continue to inspire future generations, who will be an important force in nurturing the traditional and strong friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Wearing the friendship medal awarded by the Vietnamese state, Mrs. Iovkova Zinaida Andreevna, Honorary Chairman of the Friendship Association with Vietnam in Primorye and a distinguished citizen of Primorye, emotionally spoke about her four visits to Vietnam from childhood to adulthood and her advocacy activities for Vietnam, contributing to the relationship between the two countries from wartime to the present day.
She shared that she regularly follows Russian media coverage of Vietnam and knows that over the past 40 years, Vietnam's economy has developed at an unprecedented pace. For a long time, her family and grandchildren have always chosen Vietnam as their annual vacation destination. She expressed her emotions and always considers her Vietnamese friends and comrades as part of her family.

The elderly Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Fedorovich Kolesnikov, a veteran of the "Kharol-Cam Ranh" flight squadron, respectfully presented an image of the aircraft associated with his military service and congratulated the Consulate General on the significant event commemorating the 51st anniversary of Vietnam's reunification.

Under the brilliant leadership of the Party and beloved Uncle Ho, the army and people of the North, Central, and South turned the impossible into possible. The victory not only ended the war but also ushered in an era of independence, propelling Vietnam to rise strongly on the international stage.
The rich flavors of Vietnamese cuisine, the unique cultural performances by the community in Vladivostok, and the interactions made the ceremony more warm and lively, connecting everyone in the solidarity of compatriots and the enduring Vietnam-Russia friendship.
The event contributed to spreading the image of a peaceful, compassionate, and culturally rich Vietnam, proactively stepping into a new phase of development to the Vietnamese community and Russian friends in the Far Eastern port city.
