Vietnamese in Romania reflect on their roots, celebrate 51st Anniversary of Southern Liberation

WVR - On April 26, the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Association in Romania, organized the Hung Kings Commemoration and the 51st Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) in a solemn atmosphere filled with national pride.

The event was an important occasion for the Vietnamese community in Romania to reflect on their origins, pay tribute to their ancestors, and recall the glorious history of the nation.

More than 150 delegates attended the ceremony, including all staff of the Embassy, representatives of various associations, and a large number of Vietnamese residents living, working, and studying in Romania. The presence of multiple generations of overseas Vietnamese contributed to a warm, united, and meaningful atmosphere.

In his speech, Ambassador Le Vinh Thang expressed deep respect for the Hung Kings, the great President Ho Chi Minh, and the heroes and martyrs who bravely sacrificed for the cause of building and defending the nation, ensuring the eternal existence of the Vietnamese people.

The Ambassador emphasized the significant historical meaning of the April 30, 1975 Victory – a brilliant milestone in the nation's history, marking the beginning of an era of independence, reunification, and advancement towards socialism in Vietnam, highlighting the spirit of solidarity, resilience, and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

The Ambassador proudly reviewed Vietnam's remarkable achievements in the Doi Moi (Renovation) process, noting the important contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in general and in Romania in particular; affirming the responsibility of today's generation in continuing to build and protect the country, enhancing Vietnam's position on the international stage.

In an emotional speech during the solemn ceremony, Mr. Pham Duy Hung, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Romania, affirmed that the Vietnamese community there always remembers the great contributions and sacrifices of their forefathers and takes pride in the nation's glorious history.

He emphasized that although the community is small, the associations and residents remain united, focused on their homeland, and serve as a bridge to spread Vietnamese culture in Romania.

In addition to the solemn ceremonies, the program included special cultural performances by the Vietnamese community in Romania, sports exchanges, and a traditional culinary festival. These activities not only provided cultural entertainment but also served as a bridge to connect generations of overseas Vietnamese, preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity within the Vietnamese community in Romania.
