The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Vietnam's eagerness to soon collaborate with Board members in implementing the Gaza Peace Plan, approved by the United Nations Security Council in Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025. This aims to foster sustainable peace in the Middle East, based on Vietnam's consistent stance on the Palestinian issue, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
The Deputy Prime Minister conveyed the appreciation of General Secretary To Lam for President Donald Trump's continued support in developing Vietnam-U.S. relations, endorsing a “strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous” Vietnam. He also relayed an invitation from General Secretary To Lam and senior Vietnamese leaders for President Donald Trump and the First Lady to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.
President Trump's cabinet officials expressed their appreciation and agreed to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the U.S., including expediting negotiations on reciprocal tax agreements. They also welcomed Vietnam as a founding member of the Board of Peace and mentioned that President Trump plans to visit Vietnam when conditions permit.
On the occasion of the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. President Aliyev extended warm greetings to General Secretary To Lam and best wishes for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
President Aliyev expressed his desire to visit Vietnam in 2026 to further enhance the Strategic Partnership and high-level agreements made during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Azerbaijan in May 2025, particularly in the fields of oil and gas, and technology.
President Aliyev appreciated Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam's decision to co-found the Board of Peace and expressed a desire for the two countries to cooperate closely, sharing development experiences to contribute meaningfully to reconstruction efforts not only in Gaza but globally.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son also met with the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and senior representatives of the Board of Peace, including former UN Special Envoy for the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov, to discuss potential cooperation within the Board of Peace and bilateral issues.
The partners welcomed Vietnam's decision to join the Board of Peace on Gaza, confident that Vietnam's foreign policy, along with its history of resilience and experience in overcoming war consequences and successful nation-building, serves as a valuable lesson. They believe Vietnam's participation will positively contribute to the peace process in the region.
