Vietnam and Bulgaria promote legal and judicial cooperation in the new phase

The meeting took place in the context of the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship continuing to develop positively across various fields after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2025. It was also an opportunity for both sides to discuss cooperation directions to effectively implement the commitments and agreements reached by the high-level leaders of the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet congratulated Mr. Nikolay Naydenov on his appointment as Minister of Justice of Bulgaria and expressed confidence that, with his experience and reputation, he will continue to contribute positively to the judicial reform process and the building of a rule-of-law state in Bulgaria.
The Ambassador emphasized that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria is a valuable asset cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries over more than seven decades. On this foundation, the bilateral relationship is entering a new phase of development with many promising prospects.
The Ambassador affirmed that, alongside cooperation in politics, economy, trade, investment, and education-training, legal and judicial cooperation plays an important role in strengthening the legal foundation, facilitating increasingly in-depth and substantive bilateral cooperation activities.
Both sides agreed that legal and judicial cooperation has achieved many positive results in recent times and expressed a desire to continue enhancing delegation exchanges, sharing experiences in law-making and enforcement, training human resources, and expanding professional cooperation between the judicial bodies of the two countries.
Bulgarian Minister of Justice Nikolay Naydenov affirmed that Bulgaria always considers Vietnam one of its important partners in Southeast Asia and highly appreciates the strong developments in bilateral relations recently.
He suggested that both sides should continue to promote the good tradition of cooperation established by previous generations and enhance experience sharing in areas of mutual interest, especially digital transformation and the application of information technology in judicial activities.
Minister Naydenov also praised Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements in recent times and expressed a desire to further strengthen exchange and cooperation channels between the functional agencies of the two countries to improve the effectiveness of judicial activities, better serving the needs of people and businesses.

During the meeting, both sides also discussed some legal issues related to the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria, agreeing to continue maintaining dialogue and close coordination to create favorable conditions for the community, contributing to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening the social foundation for the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed their determination to continue promoting legal and judicial cooperation, considering it one of the important pillars of the bilateral relationship. They agreed to maintain regular exchange and consultation mechanisms between functional agencies, thereby promptly sharing experiences and promoting new cooperation initiatives in line with the development needs of each country.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet emphasized that the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria will continue to play a bridging role, closely coordinating with the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice to effectively implement cooperation activities in the coming time, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership.
