WVR - Amidst the lush greenery of Ho Chi Minh Park in Vladivostok, the melody of “Nhu co Bac Ho trong ngay vui dai thang” (“As though Uncle Ho were with us on the Day of Great Victory”) resonated with deep emotion as all delegates, the Vietnamese community, and Russian friends joined in song.

The rhythmic clapping to the song, the radiant eyes, and the natural harmony made the Wreath-laying ceremony commemorating the 136th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-May 19, 2026) a special moment, where pride, affection for Uncle Ho, and the Vietnam-Russia friendship seemed to merge into one.

On May 19, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Vladivostok, Russian Federation, organized a Wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Ho Chi Minh Park. The event was attended by representatives from the Vietnam Friendship Association in Primorye, the Vietnamese Association in Primorye, Vietnamese students, representatives of Vietnamese studies students from the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), and a large number of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Far East.

The solemn and warm atmosphere of the ceremony was further enhanced by Vietnamese art performances by young Russians. Opera singer Alina Sakhatskaya performed the song “Nho ve Ha Noi” (Remember Hanoi) with great emotion, while Russian students confidently and expressively recited Vietnamese poetry.

Notably, writer and Oriental researcher Darina Mishukova introduced the book “Ma van hoa Viet Nam” (Cultural code of Vietnam), showcasing her deep love and attachment to the country and people of Vietnam. These stories and cultural connections created a close, emotional atmosphere, demonstrating the cultural and Vietnamese language's influence in the Russian Far East.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien emphasized: “The life of President Ho Chi Minh is a shining symbol of patriotism, national independence, and the aspiration for human freedom.” According to the Consul General, from his journey to find a way to save the country in 1911, President Ho Chi Minh dedicated his life to the cause of national liberation, leaving behind a legacy of thought and culture with timeless value, promoting peace, justice, and solidarity among nations.

The Consul General affirmed that the name and career of President Ho Chi Minh “have transcended Vietnam's borders, becoming a powerful inspiration for the national liberation movements of oppressed peoples worldwide,” while emphasizing the enduring values in his thoughts on self-determination, the aspiration for peace, and friendship among nations.

Referring to Vietnam-Russia relations, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien stated that President Ho Chi Minh was the one who “laid the first foundation and diligently fostered the loyal and steadfast friendship between the two nations.”

Vladivostok is a special destination in President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities as he visited the city three times on his journey to find a way to save the country and carry out revolutionary activities.

The Consul General emphasized: “The statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Vladivostok is not only a symbol of respect for the great leader of the Vietnamese nation but also a vivid symbol of the strong friendship between the peoples of the two countries.”

The Consul General also expressed appreciation for the good sentiments of the Primorye authorities and people, as well as Russian friends who have always supported Vietnam. He acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Far East in preserving national identity, unity, mutual support, and promoting Vietnam-Russia friendship.

Immediately following the commemoration ceremony, at the foot of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh, the Consulate General, in collaboration with the Far Eastern Federal University, held the award ceremony for the 23rd Vietnamese Language Olympics. Russian students majoring in Vietnamese studies who achieved outstanding results were awarded certificates and prizes by Professor A. Sokolovsky. The ceremony concluded in a warm and connected atmosphere, filled with affection for Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh, and the Vietnam–Russia friendship.
