Investment and Trade Promotion Seminar between Da Nang City and Central Lao Provinces

WVR - On July 21, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet (Laos) hosted, in collaboration with the Da Nang Small and Medium Enterprises Association and Cam Le District, along with the Vietnamese Business Association in Central Laos (AVILA), the seminar titled “Investment and Trade Promotion between Da Nang City and Central Lao Provinces”.

This event marks the beginning before the Da Nang small and medium enterprises delegation conducts a program to survey and explore investment opportunities, joint ventures, and partnerships in the Central Lao provinces.

Attending the seminar, from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet, were Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Consul General, along with representatives of the consulate's staff; from the Da Nang delegation were Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Cam Le District; Mr. Phan Phuoc Loc, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Small and Medium Enterprises Association, and representatives of 30 enterprises participating in the survey program; from the Vietnamese Business Association in Central Laos (AVILA) were Mr. Duong Dinh Bang, President of the Central Vietnamese Business Association in Laos; Mr. Le Van Long, Vice President of the Central Vietnamese Business Association in Laos, President of the Vietnamese Business Association in Central Laos, along with representatives of Vietnamese businesses investing, operating, and residing in the Savannakhet and Khammouane provinces.

In the opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Consul General of Vietnam in Savannakhet, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, head of the working delegation, emphasized the importance of trade connectivity and investment cooperation between businesses of the two countries.

This serves as a direct bridge between the production capabilities, technological solutions, and innovation of the dynamic small and medium enterprises from the coastal city of Da Nang, and the seasoned experience and local market understanding of the Vietnamese business community in Laos.

At the seminar, representatives from AVILA Central Laos presented an overview report on the economic situation in Laos, highlighting the potential and opportunities for investment and trade promotion in the Central Lao region. Representatives from some Vietnamese businesses operating in the area shared their business experiences over the past period.

Representatives from Da Nang businesses engaged in open and frank discussions about investment needs in their areas of strength, while receiving detailed responses and insights from businesses already operating in the area on issues of interest.

Within the framework of the seminar, two Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) were signed. Accordingly, AVILA Central Laos and the Da Nang Small and Medium Enterprises Association signed a cooperation agreement to establish a regular coordination mechanism, share investment information, connect trade, and transfer technology.

Additionally, the parties signed an investment cooperation agreement for the Vietnam-Laos Trade Center project in Savannakhet province.
