The two Ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive development and significant progress of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. In the context of the complex and unpredictable global and regional situation, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular exchanges to enhance shared assessments, coordinate positions and actions, contributing to strengthening a peaceful, secure, and stable environment in the region.

Both parties agreed to continue coordinating well in preparation for high-level visits and contacts; promoting deeper cooperation in priority areas, especially in science and technology, education and training, enhancing economic resilience, and facilitating the promotion of development cooperation projects.

The two Ministers welcomed the active discussions by relevant agencies on the possibility of organizing a science and technology connectivity event proposed by Vietnam, viewing it as an opportunity to expand links between research institutions, universities, and businesses of both countries.

Minister Penny Wong highly appreciated the success of the ASEAN Future Forum, affirming Australia's support for ASEAN in strengthening unity, promoting its central role, and enhancing its capacity to contribute to regional peace, stability, and cooperation; emphasizing the importance of conflict prevention in the current context.

Discussing some international and regional issues, both sides affirmed their continued support for ASEAN's common stance, emphasizing the need to maintain peace, security, stability, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight, resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The two Ministers also supported ASEAN's efforts to develop an effective, substantive Code of Conduct in the East Sea, in accordance with international law and UNCLOS 1982.
