The meeting took place in the context of Mira Lobe's children's literature work titled Grandmother on the Apple Tree, translated by Chu Thu Phuong and published by Kim Dong Publishing House, being honoured at the 2025 Vietnam National Book Awards.
This is one of the notable children's works awarded, affirming the position of Austrian literature in the hearts of Vietnamese readers.
During the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang expressed appreciation for the literary legacy of the late author Mira Lobe, who authored over 100 books translated into more than 30 languages, with many works carrying profound humanitarian messages not only for children but also attracting the interest of multiple generations of readers.
The Ambassador emphasized that the reception and recognition of a famous Austrian work in Vietnam is a vivid testament to the close cultural exchange between the two cultures and peoples.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Jungbrunnenverlag Publishing House and the Vietnam-Austria Friendship Association, reflecting a shared interest in promoting cultural cooperation, translation publishing, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang proposed the idea of organizing a Vietnam-Austria book promotion event in the near future, aiming to introduce exemplary works from both literary traditions to the public.
This initiative is expected to continue and enrich the series of activities "Coffee with the Ambassador", thereby spreading the image of Vietnam's land, people, and culture in Austria, while enhancing understanding and connection between the two peoples.
The meeting not only served as a tribute to a great author but also opened up new opportunities for cooperation in culture, arts, and publishing, contributing to deepening the excellent cooperative relations between Vietnam and Austria in the coming time, towards the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1972-2027).
