This year’s gathering carried special meaning as it marked the first ASEAN Family Day held after Typhoon Yagi, which caused significant impacts in Viet Nam and other parts of the region. The event therefore served not only as a festive occasion, but also as a reminder of the resilience, mutual support, and strong sense of community that unite ASEAN countries.
ASEAN Family Day provides an interactive friendly platform for the ASEAN community in Viet Nam to strengthen connections through cultural exchange. Traditional food, cultural performances, and traditional and recreational games from each ASEAN Member State showcased the region’s rich diversity.

“ASEAN Family Day reminds us that ASEAN is ultimately about its people. Through simple moments of sharing food, enjoying cultural performances, and playing together, we strengthen the friendships and mutual understanding that give real meaning to our ASEAN Community,” said Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Viet Nam, Adam M. Tugio.
At this year’s event, the Indonesian Embassy introduced participants to several popular Indonesian dishes, including Bakso, Sate, and Cendol. Through these culinary favourites, visitors had the opportunity to experience some of the flavours that form an important part of Indonesia’s cultural and social traditions.

The Embassy also brought the lively Gemu Fa Mi Re Dance to the celebration, joined by the diplomatic communities of ASEAN. Featuring energetic, easy-to-follow choreography, the dance helped create a joyful atmosphere and encouraged participants to join in. Its interactive character brought people closer and demonstrated how music and dance create a shared sense of enjoyment.
Indonesia’s participation reflected its commitment to strengthening people-to-people connections within ASEAN. While regional cooperation is often advanced through formal meetings and diplomatic engagements, cultural events such as ASEAN Family Day provide an equally valuable space for communities through direct interaction and shared experiences.
Looking ahead, the ASEAN Family Day will continue to develop as an inclusive platform involving more families, youth, and local communities. As ASEAN continues to strengthen its community-building efforts, events such as ASEAN Family Day reaffirm that ASEAN is not only a regional organization, but also a family built on friendship, solidarity, cultural diversity, and a shared sense of belonging.
