ASEAN Family Day 2026: Strengthening solidarity and bonds within the ASEAN family
WVR - On the morning of September 12, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of ASEAN's founding and the 31st anniversary of Vietnam's participation in ASEAN, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the ASEAN Family Day 2026 event at Thien Nga Ecopark, Hung Yen.

The event was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of SOM-ASEAN Vietnam Dang Hoang Giang and his spouse. Attendees included Ambassadors and their spouses, staff from the embassies of all ASEAN member countries in Hanoi, representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hung Yen province, and officials and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as agencies participating in ASEAN cooperation along with their families.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized the special significance of ASEAN Family Day in enhancing exchanges, mutual understanding, and cohesion among member countries, while also reflecting the spirit of friendship, dialogue, cooperation, “unity in diversity,” and the importance of ASEAN's people.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that these are also the important factors that help build trust, promote extensive cooperation, and provide a solid foundation for the formation of the ASEAN Community identity throughout its nearly six-decade development journey.
Looking towards the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, the Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam will continue to be a positive factor along with member countries to promote the realization of the goal of building a united, resilient, cohesive Community centered on its people.
The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that moments spent enjoying music, cuisine, experiencing traditional culture, and participating in community activities at ASEAN Family Day will contribute to deepening friendship, bonds, and bring beautiful memories for the participants.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of the Philippines Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III, representing the ASEAN Chair in 2026, extended sincere thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam for meticulously preparing the event. The Ambassador highly appreciated the significance of ASEAN Family Day in creating a close-knit space for diplomatic staff, families, and ASEAN friends to meet and interact, thereby bringing the spirit of the ASEAN Community closer to the people.

Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, delegates and their families immersed themselves in a vibrant journey of exploring ASEAN culture. Traditional food stalls offered the distinctive flavors of each member country; folk games, musical performances, and interactive activities created a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
Participants also had the opportunity to experience making “to he” (traditional toy figurines), crafting with ASEAN imprints, and many other unique activities. In the cool early autumn air, the diverse cultural colors of ASEAN were naturally, closely, and inspiringly spread.

ASEAN Family Day 2026 is not only a cultural exchange event but also an occasion for each participant to feel more clearly the spirit of solidarity and sharing of the ASEAN Community – a big family working towards a common future of peace, prosperity, and strong bonds.
