Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong presents Credentials to the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya

During the meeting following the credential presentation ceremony, Chairman of the Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi welcomed Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong to his new role in Libya, expressing a desire to strengthen and develop Libya-Vietnam bilateral relations.
Chairman Mohamed al-Menfi expressed a wish to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in economic, trade, investment, and energy sectors, particularly seeking Vietnam's support and experience in national reconstruction. He affirmed that Libya always welcomes and facilitates foreign businesses, including those from Vietnam, to invest in Libya.
For his part, Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong expressed his honor at being appointed as Vietnam's Ambassador to Libya, affirming his commitment to contributing to the expansion and deepening of bilateral relations. He stated that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Libya has been strengthened and developed over more than 50 years, noting the significant potential for cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong hopes that Vietnam and Libya will continue to support each other in multilateral forums, especially within the framework of cooperation with ASEAN, and anticipates that both nations will enhance delegation exchanges and expand bilateral cooperation in the near future.
Previously, Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong had presented a copy of his credentials to the Director of the Asia-Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya.
Vietnam and Libya established diplomatic relations on March 15, 1975. Libya actively supported Vietnam in its struggle for national reunification as well as during its construction and development phases. Libya supported Vietnam's admission to the United Nations in 1977 and its non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term. The trade turnover between the two countries reached 156 million USD in 2024.
