Accompaning the development of psychology in Viet Nam

With a grand vision nurturing grand ambitions, aiming to follow the footsteps of predecessors in the field of psychology in Viet Nam, taking care of the holistic health of future generations, both physically and mentally, the Institute for Psychological Research, Training and Application (IPRTA) was born with the most meticulous investment, promising many achievements in the future.

Recognizing the importance of research, education, and application of psychology in Viet Nam at present based on scientific evidence and practical needs related to mental, psychological, and social assistance for children and adults increasingly, alongside the quality of human resources in the field of psychology is raising higher requirements not only in terms of expertise, ethical practice but also demands professionalism in service delivery, the Institute for Research, Training, and Application of Psychology was established to help address these issues.

As the founder of the IPRTA, Director Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung shares: "For many years, I have been involved in research, support, screening, and timely intervention for children facing mental health issues, which has only intensified my passion and love for the path I have chosen. Interacting with children, I realized that I, and every individual in society, have a responsibility to support the future generation of our country for a healthier Vietnamese children's generation. This can come from simple actions such as empathy, resource connection for support, sharing, and love".

With the desire to expand the scope of operations, spread meaningful messages to the community, equip knowledge about mental health care for children, parents, and teachers in many provinces, research and apply psychological evaluation methods and therapies, more advanced mental health care, with the advice of experienced psychologists, my research team and I have established the Institute for Psychological Research, Training, and Application to meet the needs and natural desires of society.

In preparation for the launch of the Institute for Psychological Research, Training, and Application, Ph.D. Candidate Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung devoted time and passion to researching, building ideas and strategies, exchanging links and cooperating with leading psychological experts domestically and internationally, consulting and listening to guidance from related departments, learning from foreign models to apply domestically, and this thorough preparation is the premise marking the launch and official operation of the IPRTA.

The grand and successful inauguration ceremony of the Institute for Research, Training, and Application of Psychology took place on September 24 in Ho Chi Minh City. The Institute announced the "Mother's Dream" project at the event. In collaboration with psychological experts, social organizations, non-profit organizations, and enterprises, this project aims to establish a chain of psychological counselling and therapy centres in remote provinces to support and serve children facing psychological issues, autism spectrum disorder, learning disorders, etc. The goal is to ensure timely access, screening, evaluation, therapy, and psychological and social services continuity.

In addition, the "Mother's Dream" project is not only a non-profit project but also a model for applying knowledge, evaluation methods, and psychological therapy practices so that psychological knowledge and skills can be widely disseminated, not just in large cities but also to people in remote provinces of the country. This contributes to raising comprehensive awareness about psychology, early detection of psychological issues in children, timely intervention, and positive outcomes.

With a wide range of activities, including psychological research, application of psychology, psychological training, and human resource development, as well as international cooperation, IPRTA is steadily progressing on the journey to realize the vision of each generation of Vietnamese people having comprehensive mental and physical health development, contributing to the social psychological development goals of the region and the world.

With the close guidance, support, and accompaniment of the Psychological Association of Viet Nam and related agencies, the Institute for Psychological Research, Training, and Application will strive to improve management capabilities, professional stability, passionate and effective operations, worthy of becoming a reliable destination for a physically and mentally healthy future of Viet Nam, contributing to the prosperous development of the country.
