Eighty-one years ago, on September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

He affirmed, “Vietnam has the right to enjoy freedom and independence, and in fact, has become a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese nation is determined to use all its spirit and strength, lives and wealth, to maintain that freedom and independence.”

The entire Party, army, and people of Vietnam are determined to persist in the path chosen by President Ho Chi Minh, creatively applying his ideology to elevate the revolutionary cause he left behind to new heights, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's great powers.
