Strengthening foreign relations and strategic cooperation orientation
On the morning of August 21, at the headquarters of Khammouane Province, Comrade Xaysana Khotphouthone, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Provincial Party Secretary, and Chairman of the Khammouane Provincial People's Council warmly received Comrade Nguyen Van Dung. Also in attendance were representatives of local departments and agencies.
Consul General Nguyen Van Dung congratulated Khammouane Province on its achievements in various fields in recent times; he expressed confidence that the province will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments in implementing the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Provincial Party Congress Resolution. He expressed delight and highly appreciated the cooperation results between Khammouane Province and Vietnamese localities, contributing to the deepening, practical, and effective development of the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity relationship.
Consul General Nguyen Van Dung affirmed Vietnam's determination to continue strengthening and enhancing bilateral cooperation with Lao localities, including Khammouane Province. He emphasized that the Consulate General will play a bridging role, closely coordinating with local authorities to expand practical cooperation orientations, agreements, and plans.
Comrade Xaysana Khotphouthone agreed with the points raised by the Consul General; he affirmed that Khammouane Province always values and wishes to further strengthen cooperative relations with Vietnamese localities in various fields. He highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to the province's socio-economic development and affirmed continued support and facilitation for Vietnamese enterprises investing in the province, as well as exploring opportunities, expanding investments, and implementing projects in Khammouane.
Comrade Xaysana Khotphouthone also expressed his desire for the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet to continue serving as a bridge to promote and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between Khammouane Province and Vietnamese localities; for the Vietnamese community and businesses residing in the province to continue contributing to local development.

Expanding economic, trade cooperation and attracting investment
During the visit, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung met and worked with Comrade Somsaard Ounsida, Deputy Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Khammouane Provincial Government Committee.
Congratulating Comrade Nguyen Van Dung on his assignment in Central Laos, Comrade Somsaard Ounsida summarized the local economic development situation, emphasizing that the province is prioritizing investment attraction in four areas: agriculture, mining, tourism, and services.
He affirmed that Khammouane Province always values cooperative relations with its Vietnamese sister provinces and cities (such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Ca Mau, Lam Dong) and hopes the Consulate General will continue to connect and effectively promote the implementation of signed cooperation agreements.
For his part, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung requested Khammouane Province to continue addressing difficulties for Vietnamese businesses operating in the area; while also facilitating mechanisms, policies, and administrative procedures to attract large-scale investment projects in the province's strengths such as high-tech agriculture, energy, agro-forestry processing, logistics, infrastructure, and tourism.
The Consul General also requested the provincial government to continue supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work stably.
Appreciating the contributions of the Vietnamese business community to the local socio-economic development, Comrade Somsaard Ounsida affirmed that the province will continue to accompany and create maximum conditions for Vietnamese investors who have, are, and will invest in Khammouane Province.
On this occasion, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung, through Comrade Somsaard Ounsida, donated 5,000,000 Kip to support those affected by floods in Khammouane Province.

Deep concern for Overseas Vietnamese affairs and community
On the same day, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung worked with the Vietnamese Association in Khammouane Province. After hearing Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Association, report on the living conditions of the overseas Vietnamese community and the management of the Association's facilities (Vietnam-Laos Thong Nhat Friendship School, temple, and cemetery), the Consul General praised the solidarity and effective management of the Association's facilities.
He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Association in Khammouane will continue to connect and encourage the community to actively participate in local activities, remain united, actively engage in production, strictly adhere to the host country's laws, and make practical contributions to local development.
The visit and work of the Vietnamese Consul General in Khammouane Province further deepened the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic bonding between Vietnam and Laos.
