On October 13, responding to the call from the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, along with the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in Russia, organized a fundraising ceremony to support compatriots affected by recent storms in the homeland, collecting an initial donation of 660 million VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi was moved as he recalled the aftermath of typhoons No. 9, 10, and 11, the struggles of compatriots striving to survive the devastation of natural disasters, the efforts of authorities, and the dedication of rescue and relief forces.

“October 13 marks the beginning of the fundraising campaign across the Russian Federation,” Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi urged the Vietnamese community and businesses in Russia to continue promoting the spirit of mutual support and solidarity, providing both moral and material assistance to help compatriots overcome flood damage.

Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in Russia Do Xuan Hoang, who recently witnessed the storm's impact in Hanoi, expressed concerns about the disruptions natural disasters cause to the economy. He emphasized that, in the long run, Vietnam needs to enhance its scientific and technical capabilities to withstand and minimize damage.

Notably, Mr. Hoang shared that despite suffering significant losses from a market fire in Volgograd, the Vietnamese community in Russia warmly responded to the Embassy's call, demonstrating profound patriotism and a connection to their homeland.

On the first day of the campaign, there was enthusiastic participation from the entire Embassy staff, major associations, businesses in Moscow, and a large number of Vietnamese in Russia.

The initial result was a collection of approximately 660 million VND. This amount will be transferred to Vietnam through the official accounts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

The fundraising movement is not limited to Moscow but is also supported in many areas of Russia with a significant Vietnamese population. The Vietnamese community in Ufa has sent 255 million VND back home. In Vladivostok, the community and the Consulate General are actively campaigning, with expected donations potentially reaching hundreds of millions of VND.

With the collective effort and unity of overseas Vietnamese across Russia, these timely material and spiritual contributions provide significant encouragement, helping compatriots in the homeland quickly overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
